Beltway Boxers Have Tough Night In Philadelphia!

Three local boxers did not have a good night competing on a Kings Promotions card at the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia, PA.

Washington, DC featherweight Marcus "Dreamcrusher" Bates lost his first pro contest as he dropped an eight-round unanimous decision to undefeated Raeese Aleem of Las Vegas, NV in the co-feature.  Aleem dropped Bates in the first round and dominated him the rest of the way.  Bates lost by scores of 80-71 and 79-72 (twice).  Bates is now 8-1-1, seven KO's while Aleem climbs to 11-0, five KO's.

Owings Mills, MD heavyweight Colby Madison and Guillermo Del Rio of South Houston, TX fought to a six-round majority draw.  Despite having a 49-pound weight advantage, Madison had difficulty landing shots against Del Rio.  Madison looked sluggish throughout the contest, although he did win one scorecard, 58-56.  The two other judges saw a draw at 57-57.  Madison is now 6-0-2, four KO's while Del Rio is 2-2-1, two KO's.

Forestville, MD welterweight Evgueny Metchenov lost a four-round unanimous decision to Joshafat Ortiz of Reading, PA by way of Ponce, Puerto Rico.  Ortiz landed the harder shots in the contest and never let Metchenov find his rhythm.  Ortiz scored a shutout, 40-36, across the board and he is now 3-0, one KO.  Metchenov is 0-2.
