We now know who Gary Antuanne Russell will face in the first round of competition at the Summer Olympics in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil and the opponent is a familiar one.
Russell will take on Richardson Hitchins, a native of Brooklyn, NY who will represent Haiti in the Olympics. Both of Hitchins's parents are from Haiti.
The two men are no strangers -- they last fought in December of 2015 during the US Olympic Trials. Russell scored a 3-0 decision over Hitchins in the challenger's bracket to eliminate Hitchins from the competition. Hitchins also lost to Beltway Boxer Tyrek Irby by a 2-1 decision in the first round of the Trials.
The bout will take place on Wednesday, August 10. You can watch the bout by going to www.nbcolympics.com. The bout is scheduled to take place at 12:15 PM ET.
