Baltimore, MD light heavyweight Franchon Crews has advanced to the medal round of the 2016 Women's World Championships in Astana Kazakhstan.
Crews defeated Maria Kovacs of Hungary by a 3-0 decision in the quarterfinals to move into the semifinal round. Crews will take on Xiaoli Yang of China in the semifinals on Thursday morning. Crews is one of five Americans that have advanced to the medal round including 2012 Olympic gold medalist Clarissa Shields and Olympic bronze medalist Marlen Esparza.
The bouts are being streamed on www.aiba.org. Thursday's session begins at 7 AM ET.
