Broner Faces Arrest Warrant For Assault; April 1 DC Armory Bout Still On!

An arrest warrant has been issued for WBA Super Lightweight champion Adrien "The Problem" Broner coming from charges of felonious assault and aggravated robbery during a January incident in a Cincinnati, OH bowling alley.

According to the TMZ website who first reported this, Broner allegedly beat up a man over money he owed from a bowling match on January 21.  The incident took place at 3:30 a.m. that night after Broner and another man had been making high stakes bets with each other at the lanes.  The man, identified as Christopher Carson, filed a lawsuit against Broner on Feb. 5, alleging that he won $14,000 off Broner in bowling side-bets, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer newspaper, which obtained a copy of the lawsuit. When Broner asked if he could wager another $6,000 on a final game, Carson refused, angering Broner, the lawsuit said.

Broner and a set of eight men later met Carson around 3 a.m. outside the bowling alley, the lawsuit says. Broner, who was armed, split his chin with a punch and knocked him unconscious, the lawsuit alleges. Carson later woke up with his chin bleeding and his winnings gone, the lawsuit says, according to the Enquirer.

RingTV.com is reporting a source in the Cincinnati Police Department as saying the police in Washington, D.C., where Broner is training, are aware of the warrant for his arrest.  If that is the case, the question is how long have they been aware of this warrant.  Broner has been a public figure in the DC area since the incident as he attended the February 27th pro boxing card at the Washington Convention Center as well as two sessions of the Washington Golden Gloves at the Sugar Ray Leonard Community Center in Palmer Park, MD.

Ravone Littlejohn, the president of Broner's About Billions Promotions, one of the three promoters of Broner's title defense against Ashley Theophane on Friday, April 1 at the DC Armory, told RingTV.com that the bout is definitely still on. BATB has learned that representatives from Spike TV, who is showing the bout, are already in town going over final logistics at the Armory.

Hey, very nice site. I came across this on Google, and I am stoked that I did. I will definitely be coming back here more often. Wish I could add to the conversation and bring a bit more to the table, but am just taking in as much info as I can at the moment. Thanks for sharing.
