Updates For The August 28 Card In Washington, DC!

We have updates for the King's Promotions card for Friday, August 28 at the Washington Convention Center in Washington, DC.

The opponent for Laurel, MD middleweight Demond "D Best At It" Nicholson has changed.  Nicholson (13-1, 13 KO's) will now take on Antonio "Shake and Bake" Baker of Fayetteville, NC in the eight-round bout.  Baker (7-12-1, four KO's) broke a four-bout losing streak with a six-round unanimous decision win over Marcos Primera on November 13 in Charlotte, NC.  Baker has faced the likes of Jermain Taylor, Peter Manfredo, Jr. and Chad Dawson during his career.

Undefeated Hyattsville, MD super lightweight Patrick Harris (6-0, four KO's) now has an opponent for his six-round encounter.  Harris will take on veteran Irvin Hernandez of Aguas Buenas, Puerto Rico (3-12-2, one KO).  Hernandez will be trying to break a nine-bout winless streak.

Two of the boxers from Ohio now have opponents for the card.  Undefeated 2012 US Olympian Jamel "Semper Fi" Herring (12-0, seven KO's) will battle Ariel "La Guerra" Vasquez of Managua, Nicaragua in a 10-round lightweight contest.  This will be the first scheduled 10-rounder for Herring, who is coming off an eight-round unanimous decision victory over Hector Velazquez on June 26 in Shelton, WA.

Vasquez (12-8-2, eight KO's) broke a five-bout winless streak with a first-round knockout over Marlon Bendana in Honduras in May of 2014.  Vasquez, who is making his first trip to the United States, has not fought since winning that bout.

Another undefeated lightweight, Robert Easter of Toledo, OH (14-0, 11 KO's) will also be in a 10-round bout against veteran Osumanu "The Golden Boy" Akaba of Prichard, AL by way of Accra, Ghana (32-8-1, 25 KO's).  Easter scored a second-round TKO over Miguel Angel Mendoza on June 20 in Las Vegas, NV in his most recent bout.

Most of Akaba's bouts have taken place either in Ghana or in the United Kingdom.  Akaba is 0-3 in his United States contests but he faced quality opponents Edner Cherry, Bahodir Mamadjonov and Luis Franco.  In his last outing, Akaba scored a fifth-round TKO over Jesus Lora on March 28 in Tolu, Colombia.

Another Ohio boxer slated to be on the card -- Jamontay Clark  -- is now off the card.  BATB listed earlier information on this card and that can be found at this link:
