Beltway Boxers Competing In Important September Bouts!

September will be a huge month for traveling Beltway Boxers as five locals will be in important, high-profile bouts.

On Friday, September 11, undefeated Waldorf, MD super lightweight Mike "Yes, Indeed" Reed travels to Las Vegas, NV for an eight-round bout against Antonio "Aztec God of War" Canas at the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas.

Reed (15-0, eight KO's) is coming off an eight-round unanimous decision victory over Luis Joel Gonzalez on June 13 at the Theater at Madison Square Garden in New York City.  Canas (10-1-1, four KO's, one NC) fought to a no-contest when his opponent, Rafael Hernandez, was cut by an accidental head butt in the third round.  Canas went down twice in the second round of the contest.

Two Beltway Boxers will be on the Floyd Mayweather-Andre Berto card at the MGM Grand Hotel in Las Vegas.  Undefeated Baltimore, MD featherweight Gervonta "Tank" Davis (11-0, 10 KO's) will be in an eight-round contest against an opponent to be determined.

Also, Lynchburg, VA super middleweight Scott "Cujo" Sigmon will face Ronald "Thrill" Gavril of Las Vegas by way of Romania in an eight-round contest.  Sigmon (25-7-1, 14 KO's) scored a fifth-round TKO over Jonathan Reid on June 20 in his last outing in Greensboro, NC.  For Gavril (13-1, nine KO's, this will be the second straight bout against a Beltway Boxer.  Gavril won an eight-round unanimous decision over Jessie Nicklow on June 21 at the MGM Grand.

On Tuesday, September 15, Fort Washington, MD light heavyweight Thomas "Top Dog" Williams, Jr. will be in a 10-round co-feature contest against Umberto Savigne of Miami, FL by way of Cuba at the California University of Pennsylvania.  The bout will be televised by Fox Sports 1.  

Williams (18-1, 12 KO's) won a 10-round unanimous decision over Michael Gbenga on December 12 in Chicago, IL.  Savigne (12-2, nine KO's) will look to bounce back from a second-round TKO loss to Craig Baker on February 20 in Pittsburgh, PA.

Then on Friday, September 18,  Fernando Guerrero will battle Caleb "Golden" Truax in a 10-round middleweight contest at Full Sail University in Winter Park, FL that will be a main event contest televised by Bounce TV.

Guerrero, a Salisbury, MD resident now training in Los Angeles, CA (27-3, 19 KO's) scored a big win in his last outing with a 10-round split decision over Abraham Han on April 18 in Carson, CA.  Truax (25-2-2, 15 KO's) lost by 12th round TKO to Daniel Jacobs in an attempt to win the WBA Middleweight title on April 24 in Chicago, IL.
