Harrison Captures WBC Continental Americas Title in New York; Fox Remains Undefeated in California!

What started off as a tough night for the Beltway Boxing contingent (see the posts below) turned into a stellar night for two rising prospects.

Dusty Hernandez Harrison won a 10-round unanimous decision over Tommy "The Razor" Rainone to win the vacant WBC Continental Americas Welterweight title at the Theater at Madison Square Garden in New York City.  The bout was nationally televised by Fox Sports1 and Harrison's first bout under the Roc Nation banner.

Harrison used a good deal of solid jabbing and power punching in the bout to gain the advantage.  However, Harrison's poise kept the bout from slipping away from him.  When Rainone tried to make things rough, Harrison defended himself but managed to stick to his game plan throughout the contest. Harrison was more aggressive throughout the bout.

Harrison scored a shutout on two judge's cards at 100-90 and the third judge scored it 99-91.  Harrison remains undefeated at 25-0, 13 KO's while Rainone falls to 22-6-1, four KO's.

Meanwhile (and I do mean meanwhile as this bout was going on at exactly the same time as Harrison's bout)  Alantez "SlyAza" Fox put on a solid performance in winning an eight-round majority decision over previously undefeated Patrick Day at the Morongo Cabazon Resort and Spa in Cabazon, CA.

Fox showed the crowd in attendance and the nationally-televised ShoBox audience his best assets -- his height and reach.  Fox's jab and body shots were solid in the contest.  Fox did let Day get back into the bout in the later rounds (which may have led to one judge scoring a draw (76-76) but Fox piled up enough points to win the contest.  One judge did see a shutout for Fox (80-72) while the third judge scored the bout 78-74.

Fox is now 14-0-1, four KO's while Day is 9-1-1, five KO's)
