De La Hoya Tells Washington Post He Wants To Bring Another Big Fight To DC!

The Washington Post's Gene Wang recently sat down with 10-time world champion, International Boxing Hall of Famer and founder of Golden Boy Promotions Oscar De La Hoya.

During the interview, De La Hoya, who now has control of the day-to-day operations of Golden Boy Promotions, expressed a deep interest in bringing a big card to the Verizon Center in DC.

There is an inaccuracy in the article.  The article says that the Mike Tyson-Kevin McBride fight was the first and only fight to be held at MCI (now Verizon Center).  Longtime readers of this blog know that is definitely not true.  The "Triple Jeopardy" card of April 24, 1999 was the first followed by a card five months later on September 24, 1999 featuring William Joppy vs. Julio Cesar Green and Keith Holmes-Andrew Council II.
