Hurd Captures Split Decision!

In our co-feature bout tonight at Rosecroft, Jarrett Hurd has won a six-round split decision over a very tough Chris Chatman.

Hurd did just enough to win the contest as he was a little more accurate with his punches.  Hurd showed tremendous poise throughout the bulk of the contest, losing it briefly at the end of the fifth round in a shouting match.

Hurd won by scores of 58-56 and 59-55 while Chatman won on one judge's card by 59-55.

Hurd remains undefeated at 11-0, six KO's.  Chatman is now 11-3-1, five KO's.

Main event is next: Mike "Yes, Indeed" Reed of Waldorf, MD battles Jorge Marquez of Phoenix, AZ.  Six rounds.

Hurd lost this fight

The professional judges along with a national press representative had Hurd winning the fight base on hard clear punches, compare to them wild slapping punches Chatman threw. Therefore, what you or anyone thinks really don't matter. Hurd took on a fighter with a record that very few DC fighters are willing to do and he pulled the fight out, not pretty but a win. Moving on to the next fight.

Hurd landed the harder punches and hurt his opponent several times. Not at one point did Hurd seemed hurt, Hurd fought hard and clearly deserved the win. It was not a draw, Hurd won the fight. I don't see many young fighters taking on tough opponents, especially southpaw with a great record like the one Hurd fought. I give him and his camp much credit for having confidence in Hurd to win the fight. This was a fight that he can learn from rather than fighting bums to get easy ko's. Hurd continue to move forward and shock the ones who don't believe in you. BATB ko of the year winner!

No matter what you say everyone who seen the fight knows Hurd lost

Hurd family and corner even thought he lost

This bout was certainly a contrast in styles. Chatman was the aggressor and was the busier fighter, but Hurd blocked a lot of that aggression and rocked Chatman twice. I think Hurd could have made it much easier on himself if he used his jab consistently (his jab was nonexistent). However, Hurd still did enough to win most of the rounds, landing many of the punches he threw. Yes, Chatman threw a lot more punches, but he landed less. I also agree with what one of the previous bloggers wrote: Hurd and his team stepped up when most boxers who reach 10-0 are still not pulling the trigger and fighting a very credible opponent. No question about it, Hurd deserves a great deal of credit.

I thought Hurd won the bout, also. I had it 58-56. Hurd landed the harder punches and showed a lot of poise. Great win for him.

I also agree with you Gary, Hurd won a close fight. For those who are on here posting saying he lost the fight, maybe is because that is what you wanted to see a loss to one of our young fighters. As bad as those who wanted to see him lose, well he didn't and is still undefeated. He deserved the win and he got it. Gary's confirmation on the win says much coming from a writer whom has been pretty solid with his boxing expertise.

Not everyone, just you and hating crew but what you think don't matter because he won. Not a draw, he won, get it WON!

You know I always have to laugh because I can clearly see which bloggers pay their hard-earned money and come to watch a local boxing show in person and which bloggers who stay home in from of their computer and just want to complain! There are some very insightful comments here about why, exactly, Hurd did win and I appreciate that. Maybe if the other bloggers take the time to come out and watch a pro boxing show LIVE they, too, will learn something.
