Baltimore, MD's Franchon Crews captured the 178-pound US National Championship Saturday night in Fort Carson, CO.
Moving up a weight class from her Olympic Trial weight of 165 pounds, Crews decisioned Tiffanie Hearn of San Diego, CA, 27-17. Crews will now head to the Women's World Championships in China May 21 to June 12.
Alexandria, VA middleweight Dara Shen lost her bid for a national title at 165 pounds when she fell to Fallon Farrar of Staten Island, NY, 22-15.
