Sigmon, Mitchell To Appear on High-Profile Cards in April!

Two Beltway Boxers are slated to appear on some high-profile cards during the month of April. One of the two comes as a big surprise but it may prove that being a busy boxer can pay dividends.

BATB has learned that Lynchburg, VA super middleweight and WBC USNBC Super Middleweight champion Scott "Cujo" Sigmon will face former world champion Kelly Pavlik on Saturday, April 14 at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, NV on the undercard of the Yuriokis Gamboa-Brandon Rios bout. Sigmon tells BATB that this will be a 10-round contest and he actually took less money to avoid having this bout be an eight-rounder, which is, according to Sigmon, what the Pavlik camp preferred. No word yet on what the Pavlik camp is saying about this.

Sigmon has already fought twice this year and fought seven times in 2011.

Two weeks later, undefeated Brandywine, MD heavyweight Seth "Mayhem" Mitchell will be in a nationally-televised HBO bout on Saturday, April 28 at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, NJ. This will be a 10-round contest. No opponent named yet, but names like Chazz Witherspoon have been thrown into the mix. This bout will be one of the co-features on the Bernard Hopkins-Chad Dawson card.

If the bout sticks, I'm taking Sigmon over Pavlik for sure. Pavlik's confidence is shot while Sigmon's is mile high. What I like about Sigmon is he is undeterred about anything, including a loss - he just keeps marching on. Very Old School.

Let me tell you something. Kelly Pavlik is not focused like he was on his march to the title. When he was a contender and he fought Jermain Taylor, he was an amazing fighter who could do it all. Now Pavlik has some serious problems with alcohol, he's got all kinds of problems outside of the ring, and he's not hungry like he was leading up to the Taylor bouts. Pavlik doesn't have the desire to compete in the type of dogfight that Cujo is going to bring to him in April. Pavlik is going to look at this fight like a sparring session and Cujo is entering that ring with the mentality of a warrior. Cujo is sharp and he's been very active. Pavlik hasn't fought in almost a year and was very lackluster in that fight. Cujo is going to beat him up and bust him up and take care of business against Pavlik.

And by the way, I know for a FACT that Brad Goodman, matchmaker for Top Rank Boxing, offered this fight to Cujo as an 8 round fight. And Cujo said he would take it but he wanted a 10 round fight. And to sweeten the deal, he said I'll take LESS money to fight a 10! That's 100% accurate!

That tells you the type of mentality and the type of focus that Cujo has for this fight. He's not worried about the money because he's not taking this fight for money. He's taking this fight to put his foot deep inside the ass of a name fighter and in so doing make a name for himself. The money will come after that!

You just watch and you just wait and see, Cujo will beat Kelly Pavlik's ass!

As I told Sigmon when he gave me this information, he deserves a lot of credit for the path he has been on.

The fact that he has been busy and working hard at this says a lot about his character and his business acumen.

He has also started to change a lot of thoughts here on BATB. Not too many people are asking "Who's Cujo" now!

I have been at alot of Scott's fights he has alot of heart, he's tough, and he is starting to throw his punch better. I think Scott will give Kelly all he can handle.

I really like Scott Sigmon he is refreshing for our beloved sport. In a sport where people duck, run and hide, He doesn't; he seeks out these challenges for that he must be given due props.

However as career changing as a win against Kelly Pavlik can be; he may bit off a little more than he can chew.

Kelly does have some issues and has been laid off because of them, but HE is coming back at 30 years old not 35 or 40, he is still a young buck and at one time was considered THE ELITE fighter in the world.....

I wish Sigmon well and I will be rooting loud for him, but this is going to be a dog fight for lack of better words. Pavlik is all business 37-2, 32 ko's

Not hating just being realistic.

Yeah Brian and you thought Toni Jeter would beat Cujo if they ever fought! Look at Cujo now and look at fuck face Jeter and see how wrong you were about that too.

Alcohol will mess a man up and this guy has been, was, and is a hardcore alcoholic. You don't just stop that stuff and all of a sudden you're back to your old self. Top Rank wanted Pavlik to fight an 8 rounder for a reason and Cujo thought 2 steps ahead on them. Top Rank has no idea how tough a fight they've put Kelly in. Plus Pavlik had bad hands and Cujo has a great chin and a rock head. And Cujo is certainly better than the guy Pavlik fought in his last bout and barely won. I like Cujo in this fight!

You people who are giving this guy you call cujo all the props
either don't know the busniess of boxing or you have some unrealistic thoughts about this guy or both.
Think about this.your boy can't even beat a Jessie Nicklow how can he think about beating a Kelly Pavlik.
Let me sum this up for you.

Kelly Pavlik (even Drunk) knocks out Scott Sigmon. I'm alomst willing to bet that the fight don't even happen. Also even if the fight happens and Sigmon gets knocked out, nothing happens and nothing changes because he wasn't going anywhere anyway. And some of you including Gary will say that boy had a heart and he took on a good fighter.
Don't give a shit how many tickets he sells there are local fighters who are head and shoulders above this guy.

You people on here are crazy! Good luck to cujo. Some of you need to realize everyone is a critic and those that make negative comments may not be who you suspect. -dooman

Hey I like cujo, I consider him a friend. I was just stating an opinion on the fight, the kid is doing amazing things and is the hardest working man in boxing. I will be rooting loud but I am not gonna be blinded by fondness for Scott

I have prepared Scott very well for this opportunity. I guarantee a win for us. I pulled every string possible to get this fight. I insisted on the extra 2 rounds, believing, if it goes that far, the conditioning plan I have in place for Scott will be the difference. I really feel this is the right time with this opponent for a major step up.

Scott Farmer is a two-bit, good for nothing, loser. His son is a lousy boxer. They both are hapless.

Good job Joe H keepn up the good work with Cujo thank you very much you have made all the right moves in the last year

How and why were Scott and Andrew Farmer even brought in to this? Haters gonna hate.

Anonymous said...

People just hate on the Farmers because they are intelligent when it comes to the boxing game, and successful. Let em' talk.

Here is some betting advice for the Cujo fans making the trek to Vegas to watch the fight:

Kelly Pavlik will not knock Sigmon out. I like Sigmon's chances and he is a very live underdog and much more of a risky fight for Pavlik than Top Rank and Pavlik realise. I would say that Sigmon would be a 10 to 1 underdog or even more and he has a much better chance of winning than those betting odds so a good bet would be for Sigmon to win.

Also, the over under in rounds would be probably be 3 rounds and Sigmon will go the distance in this fight so the over will also be a good bet.

If there is a prop bet for Sigmon to win by KO/TKO/Tech. Decision I wouldn't bet it. But if there is a prop bet for Sigmon to win by split decision I bet that would pay 40 to 1 or more and I like the odds of that bet because if Sigmon wins it will be a close fight and Sigmon won't knock Pavlik out.

There you have it.
