Jeter, Rodriguez Suffer Upset Losses in Arlington!

Two Beltway Boxers were the victims of upsets tonight during the RBA Promotions card at the Henderson Hall Smith Gymnasium at Fort Myer in Arlington, VA.

Stevensville, MD junior middleweight Tony "Mo Better" Jeter was stopped in the fifth round by Jose Felix of Richmond Hill, GA. Felix started a barrage late in the first round and began to hurt Jeter in the second.

Jeter did make a comeback in the third round but in the fourth, Felix hit Jeter with a vicious uppercut that staggered him. Felix finally dropped Jeter with a crushing right hand and followed up the punch with a brutal assault that forced referee Sharon Sands to stop the contest at 2:22 of the fifth.

With the win, Felix captured a minor title, the vacant United States Boxing Union junior middleweight title, broke a nine-bout losing streak and evened his record at 11-11-2, four KO's. The loss makes Jeter's record 12-3-1, nine KO's.

Haymarket, VA welterweight Juan "The Savior" Rodriguez returned from an almost 16-month absence and ran into a buzzsaw named Richie "The Rock" Andrews from Staunton, VA.

The bout ended up being a very close bout as Andrews did a nice job catching Rodriguez from the outside as Rodriguez was coming in. Andrews dictated the pace from the second round on and ended up with a four-round unanimous decision (39-38, 39-37 and 38-36). Andrews remains undefeated at 2-0-3 while Rodriguez loses for the first time and is now 4-1-1, four KO's.

The rest of the bouts failed to make it out of the first round. Former Undisputed Cruiserweight champion O'Neil "Supernova" Bell, now fighting out of Arlington, VA, blasted Rico Cason of Hermitage, TN twice with right hands. The second one stopped the contest at 58 seconds of the first. Bell is now 27-4-1, 25 KO's.

Also on the card, undefeated junior middleweight "Mr. Inkredible" Gino McClellan of Hollywood, FL stopped late sub Tyrone Braswell of Wilson, NC at 2:25 of the first. McClellan is now 8-0, three KO's. Braswell is 0-4.

Another Hollywood, FL boxer -- Ibahiem "The Almighty" King -- stopped William Armstead of Columbus, OH at 1:52 of the opening round, dropping him four times along the way. King is now 9-6, three KO's. Armstead falls to 2-15, one KO.

Here is the BATB Post-Fight Wrap-Up, the final one for 2011!

oh my god-so much for building up your record-now watch Jeter start to try to get the fihts he once turned down to start seeking those bouts.
I had watched Jeters last 5 bouts and could see he couldnt take a shot anymore but never expected this-wonder if Jeter will either retire or seek one of the name boxers around here to fight-either way this bout shows hes pretty much done in terms of trying to be a serious contender.

Anonymous said...

You know Jeter isnt the nicest of people so you know this board is going to blow up with insults-Ccujo would have crushed Jeter.

Anonymous said...

Damn at least Jeter could have gone out with a decent payday vs cujo or Nicklow but instead gets crushed by a boxer that had lost NINE bouts in a row AND had only 3 kos in his 11 wins.

I attended the event and I must say the Jeter bout was the best entertainment last night, especially the 5th round. That round was "Gotti v Ward" like.

Anonymous said...

wow this is a bigger upset than peterson over khan, amazing!

Anonymous said...

for you to include Jeter's name in the same sentence as Gatti and Ward is a sin.

Anonymous said...

Gatti Vs Ward-not even close

Anonymous said...

more like getti vs wood not gatti vs ward.

Anonymous said...

gitti vs. weed.

A serious contender ( Jeter ) upset!.....This should really shake things up in the middleweight division.

gary,any results for silver gloves//

I was not there, I just hope tony is okay after last night,

Damn..there goes Shah vs Jeter in Maryland. No point in doing that now.

Can someone please put this fight on YouTube. Was unable to attend. Would love to watch it. Even though I'm a. Jeter fan and hate to hear him lose heard it was a very fan friendly fight.

Wow! Well as Brian intimated I hope Tony is well. I can only imagine how sad a person's existence is when, during a season of giving and not of getting, they find some personal satisfaction in another person's trial/tribulation period. It's also pretty obvious your experience in boxing is limited as anybody whom has spent any time in a boxing gym can attest to the fact sometimes its just not your night. It's a fight anything can happen. Say what you want but when Tony steps in between those ropes he is all dog. I wish Tony and his family a safe and happy holidays.

Gary what was the attendance last night?

Felix just has more of the Christmas spirit in him than Tony Jeter. And Jeter is like the Grinch with his tiny little heart. Felix goes by the motto of it's better to give than receive. And Felix gave Jeter an ass whipping and Tony Jeter received an ass wipping! I wonder if Tony wet the bed last night?

you shouldn't kick a fighter when he's down...

Now who was the 17 year old he was suppossed to fight at home/ ? The young kid/

Manny said...

That Was Dusty Harrison who fought the other night. You can guarentee that fight is ruined. Will Jeter even fight again? Time will tell>

tony jeter will be back stronger and better than ever. mark my words. he can still beat shaw on any given night. champions always make a comeback. tony will rise to the occasion. 3012 will be a big year for jeter. i meant 2012-ok.

Spoke with Tony J this morning he is fine. He congratulated Jose Felix on a great fight and admitted he was the better man last night. Tony is looking forward to his show on the 18th of February depending on the commission's mandatory suspension.

Tony said some night it just ain't your night, Felix got his job done.

Someone please post on YouTube or tell me who to contact about buying a tape of last night

Juice Gatling has video of the card. Call him at 240-353-0564.

It was a small venue, but it was close to full. I'd estimate about 450.

Glad for Ted that he had that many
in attendance.

Gary I have a question.
Why do you call the rodriguez and
Richie the rocket fight an upset?
I would think that if The spanish kid won then it would be an upset.
This boy Richie has been on a roll and there is no subsitution for activity. Was it because Rodriguez had more people there that you call it an upset?
Not really trying to bust your balls just trying to make a point in my own hard headed way.

Gary you really do a fantastic job and provide the public with alot of important info and I for one really appreaciate it.
Thanks alot

Gary Digital Williams said...

Although, Andrews has fought well of late, Rodriguez was becoming a solid prospect before his layoff. He had four solid knockout victories.

It was a minor upset but in my opinion, it was one.

Thanks for the support and the kind words!

Tony is in his mid to late 30s,has never fought anyone much less beat any seruious fighter; he wasnt on contender track, anyone who know boxing knows that much is true. Hope he recovers well and moves into another side of this sport, boxing is dangerous and he has a very suspect chin. He was a good amatuer who couldn't get his pro career out of first gear. I wish Tony well outside the ring.

Anonymous said...

The way Jeter carried himself is the reason everyone is laughing at him-his chest thumping oover the top attitude what did you think wa going to happen when he fell flat on his face?Ill tell you one thing I know for sure now-Cujo would have run him out of the ring.

Anonymous said...

Cujo would have hurt him bad! Well maybe not. Jeter probably would have quit after the first or second round. But if he didn't quit, he would have been carried out of there and wouldn't have been the same again. Jeter had no chance. Same thing with Nicklow. If that would have happened he would have been slaugthered. Shit, Jose Felix beat the crap out of him. Chickens coming home to roost. He's done and thanks for that.

Pattle said...

jeter would still box the shit out of cujo. cujo is too slow for jeter. he will come back stronger than ever. you just watch.he had a bad night-so what. cujo refuses to step up to the bowl and fight him. he turned down many of offer. did you ever think that jeter lost on purpose to sucket cujo into fighting him. tony aint no dummy. he has fooled all of you into thinking he cant fight. now he's gonna make cujo pay for it. laugh if you want to, but its tony who will be laughing all the way to the bank. cujo would not last 3 rounds with jeter. Tony Mo Better Jetter will be back!!! sooner than you think. get a life Cujo-you loser.

Jeter knocked out?
And his star was shining so bright. I had him pegged as the best fighter in southern Millersville at a Curves Gym for women.

HO HO HO! Merry Christmas to everyone that can't stand Tony Jeter - this one was for you! That's what you get for being a bad boy Tony. Instead of a lump of coal I gave you an ass whipping instead!

Anonymous said...

It's so sad that there's so much black venom on this blog towards the white guy, Jeter. White, blue, black, yellow, brown or green - you've got to respect any guy or girl that steps in the ring.

Anonymous said...

about Jeter

It has nothing to do with race. Don't pull that card.
Jeter is a bum if he's black, chinese, or hispanic.

"Child Please"

Anonymous said...

Everything to do with race. Black man don't like it when white man does good in boxing. I know because I'm a Brother.

Anonymous said...

Jeter is an embarrassment to White People.

How much was Felix supposed to get? Surely fighting a 6 rounder against a killer like Tony Jeter and fighting for a coveted title he had to make at least $60,000 no make that $6 MILLION DOLLARS!

Brian - smart man for removing your comment. To say something like that and sign your name where everybody knows who you are in a public forum and make an allegation like that against a man of means, not so smart. You'll be fine. Just remove the rest of your comments on this thread and you're in the clear.

Brian is a crook himself. He shortchanged me once and did it to a few others too.

Brian said...

Idiot well that is somewhat accurate. Rip off. Well for the record.

There are two poeple in boxing I owe:

1. Tony Jeter $125 for a booking fee I was to split and I was paid only half of it and I paid him half of that.

2. Mike Sawyer I owe $250 on a split fee in which I was not paid for. I am in the middle of a complaint process with the Florida commission to have them make the promoter who didn't pay pay.

So at the end of the day I owe 2 people

In all total I am owed roughly $3000 through out boxing from various people

I feel very fortunate, boxing has been very good to me for the past 20 years, I have met some great people and have made life long friends. I wouldn't have wanted to do it any other way in boxing, I have had many more good times than bad times in our sport.
