Patriot Center Hosts Boxing September 10!

Pro boxing returns to the George Mason University Patriot Center in Fairfax, VA on Saturday, September 10. Great Falls, VA junior middleweight Jimmy Lange (36-4-2, 24 KO's) will headline his 13th Patriot Center card against an opponent to be determined. This will be another ICE Promotions card promoted by Jackie Kallen.

The co-feature is set for this card. This will be an eight-round contest between junior middleweights George "Wartime" Rivera of Charlottsville, VA and Jonathan "Reid Dawg" Reid of Nashville, TN. Both boxers fought on the last Patriot Center card on March 12. Rivera (12-6, four KO's) won a six-round unanimous decision over Shakir Ashanti while Reid (35-12, 19 KO's) won a six-round unanimous decision over Mike McFail.

Other bouts slated for the card include undefeated Fairfax, VA welterweight Todd "White Lightning" Wilson who will face Raymond Betancourt of West Palm Beach, FL in a six-round contest. Wilson (10-0, three KO's) makes his fourth straight appearance at the Patriot Center. In his last outing, Wilson won by third-round disqualification over Dean White. Betancourt (8-6, three KO's) once held the Florida State Junior Welterweight title, but has lost his last two bouts.

In what should be a very interesting six-round bout, undefeated Chantilly, VA junior middleweight Zain "Tiger" Shah will take on "Vicious" Julius Kennedy of Baltimore. In his last outing, Shah (5-0, three KO's) scored a second-round TKO over Tevin Parker at DC Star on April 23. This will be Shah's second time facing a tough Baltimore boxer. In his last appearance at the Patriot Center on November 6, Shah won a tough six-round unanimous decision over Omar Sims. Kennedy (7-2-1, three KO's) has not fought since losing a 10-round unanimous decision to Scott Sigmon on December 11 at the Pikesville Armory in Pikesville, MD in one of the best Beltway bouts of 2010.

Speaking of Scott "Cujo" Sigmon, the super middleweight from Bedford, VA will make his second appearance at the Patriot Center when he takes on veteran Bruce "The Rage" Rumbolz of Sterling, IL in a scheduled eight-round contest. Sigmon (16-3, eight KO's) will try to bounce back from his 10-round unanimous decision loss to Chris Fitzpatrick on July 16 in Greensboro, NC. Rumbolz (22-22-2, 15 KO's) will be looking to stop a four-bout losing streak.

Reston, VA junior middleweight Lawrence Jones will also be looking to get back on the winning side when he faces Jose Felix of Richmond Hill, GA in a six-round bout. Jones (3-5-1, two KO's) has lost his last three including a four-round split decision to Todd Eriksson on March 4 in Atlantic City. Felix (10-9-2, three KO's) has lost his last seven bouts, all by knockout.

Also on the card will be New Castle, DE junior welterweight and former number one contender Michael "No Joke" Stewart. Stewart, a cast member on the second season of "The Contender" (47-6-3, 24 KO's) will be in a six round bout against an opponent to be determined. Stewart once challenged Sharmba Mitchell for the interim IBF Junior Welterweight title in 2004, losing a 12-round unanimous decision in Manchester, England.

i would like to see wilson beat someone that white has beaten-ryan belasco or someone like that. Then make a rematch with white. That way the terrible outcome of there last fight would be forgotten.

Rivera v.s Reid- rivera will have to box his ass off. Looks like to me that the langes are letting these two fight and jimmy will get some more fresh(but safe) meat when he fights the winner at the next show.

shaw v.s kennedy- i'm yawning
Jones- I'm still yawning
Cujo- well whats there to say.....we all know the deal with him.
Stewart- dont know who in the hell they will get for him since the promoter wont pay for a decent opponent, i guess thats why a 10 or 12 round fighter is fighting a 6 rounder.
Lange- opponent to be determined or opponent to be announced the day before weigh in so everyone buys a ticket hoping to see an entertaining main event and then gets bombarded by a lacluster main event.

overall i believe the show will draw lots of people, it always does-partly due to the venue/location. The undercard will fight there asses off even if they have soft, or even super soft opposition only to glorify a lacluster main event. I will not be paying to attend. Not until they get some good exciting fighters who are having "fights" on the card.
*just my opinion/outlook

Zain Shah vs Julius Kennedy is an awesome fight! Also what is the deal with me exactly?Fill me in.lol

well im assuming that the last comment was from cujo.
you probably believe the that fight is awsome because you probably made that fight. The reason im not intersted in that fight is that kennedy had a draw against a midget(who beat you) who should be a wlterweight at best and he lost badly to you. Shaw is an ok fighter..not good...but not bad either. He is very akward and can punch a little-only with his right hand. the point is that shaw will dominate this guy and therfore it isnt intersting to me.

now onto "what is the deal" with you. Everybody in the boxing world knows that you have money behind you. This allows you to manage yourself and fighters who have these two things usually end up fighting tomato cans or good fighters who keep the fight close but do what they are supposed to. I'm not knocking you for this i'm simply saying that it gets old after you see/hear the same outcome of your fights time after time. I mean come on you get someone like john terry to fight you twice-both with the same outcome. again it gets old.

Terry was a last minute sub the 2nd time. Also I have recently fought a 7-1 and a 13-0 guy so you call those guys tamato cans?

you obviously didnt understand my last post. I said that fighters who are self managed often get tomato cans to fight or get good fighters to keep the fight believable but lose....in plain english ...people get paid to lose. I also said that i didnt disagree with this method. All i am saying is that i will not pay hard earned money to continue to watch people fight when you allready know what the outcome is going to be. Like i said not everyone you fight is a tomoato can.
You obviously train hard and get in good shape, you got someone who pays you to do that. You do a fair job of manging yourself, except your last fight-he must have renigged on the deal. I just dont like unfair fights. I like competitve fights. So you have nothing to say about my comments concerning the shaw-kennedy fight?

I think Shah vs Kennedy will be great and ppl do not get paid to lose that is ignorant to believe. It was a close and outstanding fight last and I did not get the nod.Anyways haters gonna hate.

Its Shah..not Shaw. And I think The Shah-Kennedy fight is a hell of a matchup. Kennedy is pretty relentless and Shah has decent power

Come on now....fighters aren't paid to lose...haha well maybe those words aren't said but hhmmmm I'm going to drop it, but face the facts...like I said I'm not hating or mad I'm just saying I'm not paying for a ticket to watch matches in which I allready know who's going to win. Kennedy may be relentless but that will play right into shah's (hope I didn't offend you by this spelling) gameplan. Haters are going to hate hahaha man don't you sound bright.

Man f**k cujo. You know you be paying people to lay down. And don't tell me it aint true! I guess the beat down you took from my boy in roanoke scared you so you be getting them rich white guys to get u a fighter you can beat or who let you beat them like a straight punk

Julius Kennedy is going to destroy Zain Shah.

Todd Wilson is gonna get whooped by Ray Betancourt. I'm just lettin you all know now. Remember, you heard it first here! Wilson hasn't fought anyone with some balls and he has run out of people to lay down for him so they've had to go all the way down to South FL to find someone. You chose the wrong dude this time fools!

remember all the comments the fights at the Patriot Center use to get on this blog?
Guess what, nobody really gives a shit anymore.
Know what I meen Vern.

People don't get paid to lose?
C-mon Cujo.
This sport has some of the most unhonerable people in the world in it and so many people are
EGO-MANIACS who can't bear the thought of a loss beside their name.
There is so much shady shit that happens on these shows.
JD Brown and Johnny Lange are always up to nogood and are really the dregs of the boxing world. Hey JD got that ass kicked on TV didn't you.Fuck you and Robert Crawford. The comment was made over a year ago on this blog that you would steal Bayan away from coach Taylor and Whoever made the comment knew what they were talking.
PS.Your head is even bigger and uglier on Television.

Billy Dee Williams.

I doubt that Julius Kennedy nor Zain Shah are getting paid to lay down

Anonymous said...

That's because nobody cares about neither one of them. Who realy gives a shit who wins! That and neither one has someone in there corner who gives two shits about them!and trust me cujo we all know the deal with you!

Cujo was asked to fight Tony and he didnt take it. He was asked to fight Joshua Snyder but backed down from that also.

What ever happened to Juan Rodriguez?

Anonymous said...

Juan was forced to retire because his trainer couldn't stand the bright lights of the ring. That's why he was wearing sunglasses. Matter of fact that goofy son of a b**ch wears them to sleep. I heard he couldn't get any more bums to beat- on the real. Maybe this will come to wilson next- no more bums to beat up on equals no more fights. That's why he backed out of fighting the guy he was supposed to fight....now its rumored he I'd fighting a drunk who has no business fighting anymore....do some research and see what you guys think.

WHY IS CUJO DUCKING THOSE GUYS THEY ARE FROM MARYLAND RIGHT. IS THAT WHY HE KEEPS GOING DOWN NC

Anonymous said...

he spreads his fights out....some here some there, so no one comission gets the heat from him picking his own bodies-oops i meant opponents. I dont give a shit what kind of record they have money makes people do strange things!

Anonymous said...

just read that jimmy lange is fighting a washed up guy from kansas for a world title on this show.....WBU wtf kinda sactioning body is that. Kinda reminds me of the WBE- the belt perry ballard had. Man he what a joke That fight was.

Todd Wilson is now fighting Eric "Mighty Mouse" Aiken. Aiken hasn't fought in a few years but that could be a good fight

Anonymous said...

yeah if mouse isnt buzzing by the time he fights. Aiken could knock wilson out easily.
