Beltway Amateurs Participating in USA-China Dual Meet!

Three local boxers will be a part of the USA team that will battle China in the "Empires Collide" dual meet on Friday, October 1 at the Capitale in New York City. This event is being promoted by Dino Duva and his father, the legendary trainer, Lou, is the special consultant to the Chinese team.

Mike Reed (140 pounds), Danny Kelly (201 pounds) and Tyreshia Douglas (114 pounds) make up the Beltway contingent that will be participating. Best wishes to all three locals.

UPDATE: BATB has learned that one of the trainers for the Chinese team will be Sgt. Charles Mooney, who has trained a number of boxers in the Beltway and is a silver medallist on the 1976 US Olympic Team.

There are many dual training camps with boxers from more than one country. Our USA Team just finished training with both Great Britain and Italy in preparation for the European Games. Are they traitors too, dummy??! It's called mixing of resources to make all boxers better. It's not that deep. You are wrong for the harsh comments. The Chinese Team will train for two weeks in PA and NY before this competition and they hired a couple of US trainers one of which is the HEAD of the USOEC (NMU). Why wouldn't they if they think it can help their boxers. We have US boxers that train with international coaches all the time. Europe, Mexico, Cuba. It's called improvement. Attitudes like yours are why boxers never do well in international competition. You think that our boxers can be the best by training 100% with Americans only so they can be patriotric. You're an idiot. These guys are TRAINERS who get paid to train. lol. Can't a guy make a living anymore? This whole thing was put together by the Duvas anyhow, the eldest of which is a paid consultant for the Chinese Federation. Why no harsh words for him? It's a business and I'm happy that amateur boxing is getting some pub in a big market. Go take your ass back to the stone ages where your reasoning fits right in. Loyalty. LMAO.

No harsh words for old Lou?
Of course I do.He is a fat selfish old fart who obviously puts money over the fighters ,but I guess he is like you and the rest of the people in the sport that only do this for money. You say can't a guy make a living anymore and to carry my ass back to the stone ages.
Just because it's the thing to do this day and time doesn't make it the right thing to do.You my friend are a nieve up with the times do it the way they do it
now days kinda guy.
Now that I've said it the nice way let me tell you the way you probobly understand it.
You want to keep up with the times so keep up with this you piece of garbage.your one of those people who believe it's ok for a man to lye with another man as if lying with a woman and that it's ok for anybody to do whatever they want as long as they don't get caught.Lets not do anything that might resemble the old way of thinking.
And by the way your breath stinks
and you have a distinct rotten body odor about you.
Signed Jacob
PS. The day of reconing is at hand!

Mooney was one of the best trainers in the area. He helped more fighters than you can imagine.

You know how the chinese are. They are very conservative and dont take no shit. So I believe its an honor they picked Mooney to train thier fighters, considering he stopped one of thier best fighters and ended up in the finals with thier other best fighter in the 76 olympics.

Jacob, you're still an idiot. I don't get paid from amateur boxing but last time I checked, this is AMERICA. If someone wants to get paid for a legal job, you should just shut the hell up. Forget the Stone Ages, take your ass back to whatever country you are from where a man can't get paid for practicing his profession. Probably the same country that forgot to teach you how to spell properly or form grammatically correct sentences.LOL.

"Puts money over the fighters" , "As long as they don't get caught". . . This blog post is about our local boxers participating in a dual vs. The Chinese National Team. What is there to get "caught" doing? How is this event "taking money over fighters"? Is something illegal or unethical going on?

I'm not responding anymore, so have fun with your "reconing". Oh, by the way, you spelled that wrong too genius.
