Landover, MD's Kevin Rivers and DC's David Grayton won their opening round bouts during the first session of bouts at the USA Boxing National Championships in Colorado Springs, CO today.
Rivers, the defending champion at 132 pounds, decisioned Gregory Wilkerson of Pittsburgh, PA, 8-5. Grayton, fresh off his National Golden Gloves victory earlier this year, stopped Tyler Canning of Lander, WY in the first round of his 152-pound bout.
In the evening session, Danny Kelly of DC won his first bout in the 201+ division by decision over Trevor Bryant 47-42 in a level 1 tiebreaker.
