Beltway Boxers Have Even Slate On First Day of National Golden Gloves!

Beltway amateurs split on the first day of competition at the National Golden Gloves Tournament of Champions at the Statehouse Convention Center in Little Rock, AR.

At 141 pounds, Gary Allen Russell defeated Armando Gallegos of the Rocky Mountain team. D'Mitrius Ballard won his first round bout in the 165 pound class, defeating John Thompson IV of New Jersey.

Shadeed Floyd, who won the Outstanding Boxer award at the Regional Golden Gloves in Waldorf, MD, lost his first-round bout at 123 pounds, falling to Quincy Means from the Mid-South team via a split decision. Also, at 201 pounds, Charles Johnson lost to Sifou Sua, of the Rocky Mountain team.

Gary, have you ever thought about conducting post fight interviews and putting them on here. Not just audio but video as well. That would be a nice addition to the site I believe.

If not through the site directly, you could put the videos on youtube (which would be the best option IMO).

Great job with the site BTW.

Appreciate the comment. That is something I am working on for the future (soon as I can figure out the technology) A lot of times, I'm calling the play by play action for a promoter's video and the time becomes an issue. It makes for a late night.

Hopefully I will be able to do video in the very near future! Thanks again for the feedback!
