L. Peterson Scores Seventh-Round Stoppage In Vegas!

Lamont Peterson got back on the winning track with a seventh-round TKO over Damian Fuller last night at the Hard Rock Cafe in Las Vegas.

Details are sketchy, but Peterson stopped Fuller at 1:10 of the seventh. Peterson's record is now 28-1, 14 KO's. Fuller falls to 30-7-1, 14 KO's.

When will he make take that next step??

Seriously. Congratulations BUT, DAMN. As Damon Wayans said in "Major Payne", "Pop your titty out of his mouth and stop babying him". Time to step up. This is just getting ridiculous. Must be making enough money to where they don't feel like it's worth the risk. Sooner or later, people will lose interest in him and his brother.

Our last commenter may not have been with us as long. Lamont Peterson's last bout was only for..The WBC Junior Welterweight title!! If you call that being babied, what would YOU call the next step?

Haha, Gary maybe fighting Godzilla! LOL, that guy must not follow the sport very closely.

Sounds like U HATIN Brother! Petersons Brothers are good just fine!

I was the one who posted what I guess you would call, the "hateful comment about the Peterson Brothers. Sorry for the mixup. I get Lamont and the other one (don't even know the other ones name. Is it Anthony) mixed up.

I will graciously accept the loss you guys handed to me on this one. But that statement I made could have very well applied to the one Peterson Brother (is it Anthony??)

Anonymous said...

you referred to both Peterson brothers in your statement. If you can't distinguish between the two then there is a good chance your boxing acumen maybe what needs to be called into question not either of the Peterson brothers.

McCombs I am calling you out. I beat you in the gym like a dog with rabies, so now time in the pro ranks too! Hit me my manager Marty "I rip you off" Wynn and we can do this!

And the winner gets Tony Jeter although he would rather fight the loser! And that would be some funny shit if it weren't the truth!

Once again, I posted the hateful comments. Sorry if I'm not going to get on a fighters bandwagon just because they are from the area I live in. That's just stupid. A lot you know damn well that neither one of them are nothing special. Saw them fight on ESPN a few (3??) times and saw nothing in them against opponents they were supposed to beat.

IMO, they will just the list of babied fighters who win FORCED to step up, continually get knocked down.

first of all if you dont like the petersons, then dont like them but the man just fought a tough fight in bradley, and i guess hes a creampuff too. the question is why would he step up and fight anthoer big name, this was perfect tune up fight and to keep him busy, and then try to at least step up and fight another name, there arent many fighters, that left the ring undefeated, even Paul williams lost, even too me when it didnt look like he could, sometimes a loss can destroy you and sometimes it can reasses and get yourself together, and i think he did

Here are my feelings. The Peterson brothers have talent for sure, but can they beat the next level of fighters? So far, Lamont proved he could not and got his ass handed to him by Bradley a B+ or even an A- fighter with a lot of skills.

The thing about the DC/MD fighters is this and no one can deny it. They (Holmes, Joppy, Mitchell, Coley to a lesser extent, and Corley) all won belts, but when they stepped up to the A+ fighters, they all got their butts kicked! That cannot be disputed. Sugar Ray Leonard on his worst day, was better than this group. Now Mark Johnson is the only, but never got a big fight to show how great he was. By the time he fought JMM, he was shot for the most part.. Mark all around is the best since Sugar Ray from this area, but still could not touch Leonard in accomplishments.

Anonymous said...

I meant to say when Mark faced Rafael not JMM.

I was the one who posted the first hateful comments about the Peterson Brothers lol and I am glad that somebody came to my rescue. People in the DMV just seem to have lower standards for their fighters. As followers of boxing, we can tell when a fighter has it and/or when a fighter has creampuff record while deflate when he is forced to step up.

Lamont did just that, he deflated against Bradley. Truth be told, he will deflate against any other top notch opponent as well. Quote me on that one seriously.

Tune up fight?? How many tune up fights must you have before you beat somebody of signifance. Boxing has been overfilled with a lot of fighters that resemble Chris Arreola (which is another fighter that will not win an important fight EVER).

first of all i like the petersons, but name me 1 fighter from this area or any other area with 30 fights, and half of them were against top notch and came out with a winning record, true fuller is maybe a c fighter, so he did what he was suppose to do, but its amazing that a fighter has one bad night and then he's nothing, after paul williams lost everybody jumped on the bandwagon, he aint this and he aint that, not comparing the 2, as only in the loss, but as the record go he will have to step up, and then we will see he was suppose to face valero, but that fell thru, i just say as to any fighter give him a chance even mike tyson fought a lot of creampuffs as u call them, but if a man has the courage to get in the ring and fight then he's no creampuff, cause in that circle alone can be a scary feeling

Anonymous said...

There aren't too many fighters of modern time whom would give Sugar Ray much of a fight from Dc or anywhere.

Anonymous said...

I would like to ask what do you mean that he needs to step up, does every fight have to be against a contender, I have never seen a boxer go against a top contender every fight. Promoter's wouldn't allow it nor would the managers. You would burn a fighter out at that rate. Most boxer's fight two or three average fighters then a tough opponent who is usually in the top ten, then fight a opponent who isn't ranked real high then another top ten opponent. And yes yoy should support boxer's from your area its called having pride in where you come from.

last post i agree, and to the earlier comment about sugar ray i would say true but if mark and ray weighed he same and both fought in their prime that would have been a hell of a fight, and to lamonts defense, he showed true heart, he could have quit, or retreated, he did neither that night just wasnt his night and fuller its not like hes been knocked out 5 or 10 times, he was a fighter, who probably thought he had a chance to get back to promise with a win but not that night, Lamont did what he had and was suppose to do

Anonymous said...

Listen, the Petersons are good fighters but it's not like a fighter like Sugar Rays comes along every day. It's not even fair to compare the two just like it's not fair to compare Willie Mays to a George Brett or a Paul Molitor. Yes, Mays, Brett, and Molitor are all in the Hall of Fame but would anybody ever say that George Brett and Paul Molitor were better than Willie Mays? Would anybody ever say that Lamont Peterson is better than Sugar Ray Leonard? My point is, Lamont Peterson is one hell of a fighter and he will probably go on to win another world title or two and when it's all said and done he will probably be remembered in a similar category that we remember a Curtis Cokes or a Jose Torres or Brian Mitchell (who are all in the boxing hall of fame). Look, there is good, there is very good, and there is great. In my mind GREAT means Sugar Ray Leonard, Sugar Ray Robinson, Ali, Marciano, Duran, Arguello, Pryor. I mean, there are only so many of those guys EVER. Peterson has a chance to be good or even very good. And if he keeps working hard, saves and invests his money, and lives a good clean life he will be a success. Particularly where those two boys came from. God bless 'em because there are where they are due to hard work and determination. God bless 'em!

Anonymous said...

And dont forget shelly finkle if it werent for him they would have been fighting at michaels and the duburns or at howard university or at the abc. those boys had the opportunity that most of our local boys did not have.

Anonymous said...

I don't see them, either Peterson, as being Hall of Fame caliber fighters. To me they are solid but not special and certainly not great. They are like a Frank Tate, or Frank Fletcher, or James "Hard Rock" Green. Remember those guys? Good fighters all but not HOFer's. And really, is there anything wrong with that?

Anonymous said...

I think people on here are getting defensive simply because they are from the DMV area. If you watch either one fight, they are nothing special. Should be handling their amateur opponents ass whoopings but nope, nothing. Ill see you in about 5 years when you notice that they aint shit.

No hateration, just the truth. BTW, is Anthony ever going to step up??

Gary Digital Williams said...

Actually, Anthony was scheduled to face Humberto Soto for the WBC Lightweight title (the one Edwin Valero vacated and Soto won on the Pacquiao-Clottey card in Arlington, TX) on June 5 at Yankee Stadium on the Miguel Cotto-Yuri Foreman card However, Soto decided to take a tune-up bout instead. So Anthony is indeed stepping up.

Anonymous said...

What do you mean by stepping up you fight who they put in front of you. If you dont see anything special in both Peterson brothers, then I guess your a terrible judge of talent when it comes to boxing. I would like to know who you think are good and up and coming fighters.

* I posted the original hateful comments***

Who do I see as prospects?? Andre Berto is a fighter who I predicted would be a monster when I saw him on ESPN with only a 8-0 or 9-0 record. Yes, he has been put in with soft opposition as well as the Petersons, but he easily handled them like he should have. Yes, he got knocked down by Luis C. (can't remember the spelling of his last name but he also fought Floyd Mayweather and Ricky Hatton. Lost to them both) but Luis C. if in the same division (don't know if he is or not) of the Petersons would crush them easily.

OMG Lamont stepped up to Timothy Bradley LMAO. Andre Berto was willing to step in the ring with Sugar Shane Mosley (until the Haiti event happened).

Let me ask you a question.... How long will you be on their bandwagon until they show you something worth while??

About your question of who do I see as being good up and coming prospects. To be honest, none really. Bunch of fighters with gassed up records who don't have the skills to step up.

Take this to the bank as well.... Demetrius Andrade (think that's the correct spelling) will also be a bum. Hype him up because of his olympic medals but saw him on ESPN twice and he did NOTHING.

my man u need a hug what's the problem anthony and lamont would beat luis collazo ass and u know it when u talking about stepping up collazo lost so what are u talking about....U SLEEPY GO BED

I need a hug and need to "go bed" (telling me im sleepy but you the one fucking with the typos)?? Naw, I really don't. But hopefully you guys get tested regularly for STDs because you have to have contracted something through all this homosexual dick riding of the Petersons.
