Baltimore, MD light heavyweight Willie "For Real" Williams lost a six-round unanimous decision to Reggie Pena of Ocala, FL in front of 1,132 at Michael's Eighth Avenue in Glen Burnie, MD.
Williams was dropped in the fifth round as he had difficulty with Pena's onslaught throughout the contest. Williams suffered a cut along the left eye and on his lip. Williams is now winless in his last four bouts and is now 12-5-2, three KO's. Pena's record rises to 5-2, one KO.
The co-feature saw Capitol Heights, MD super featherweight Thomas "KO" Snow win a rather unpopular six-round split decision over Jason Rorie of Ocala, FL.
Many in the crowd did not like Snow's defensive movements in the contest and it seemed to frustrate Rorie. But the key round was the fifth when Snow landed some solid shots to the head and body of Rorie. This allowed Snow to hang on for the victory. Judges Dave Braslow and Gary Camponeschi scored the bout for Snow 58-56 while Judge Don Risher saw the contest 58-56 for Rorie.
Snow is now 12-1, eight KO's while Rorie falls under .500 at 5-6-2, two KO's.
In other bouts on the card, Delmar, MD cruiserweight Alex Guerrero scored his first pro knockout, stopping the debuting Johnny Fields of Canton, OH at 2:55 of the first round. Guerrero is now 3-0, one KO.
In a heavyweight battle, Suitland, MD's Vinroy "Hard Work" July stopped Kevin "The Journeyman" Johnson of Baltimore at 1:33 of the second round. July, who is originally from St. Catherine's, Jamaica, remains undefeated with a record of 3-0, two KO's. Johnson's record evens at 3-3, two KO's.
In a battle of Martins, Dwayne Martin of Laurel, MD won a four-round majority decision over Darrell "The Project" Martin of Baltimore. Dwayne Martin is 2-1, one KO while Derrell Martin is 4-12, one KO.
In a non-Beltway battle, heavyweight Harold Sconiers of Clearwater, FL won a six-round majority decision over Mike Miller of Akron, OH. Sconiers, who has fought the likes of Donovan "Razor" Ruddock, Davarryl Williamson and Clifford Etienne, is now 17-20, 11 KO's while Miller, who has fought local boxers Seth Mitchell (twice) Horace Grant , Scott Buchanan and Maurice Byarm, is now 6-15-2, two KO's.
The card was promoted by Ballroom Boxing. The matchmakers were Jake Smith and Jeff Novotny.

What was up with that announcer last night? KO Snow got a gift last night! What a tough bout to watch. Run Forest Run!
Yeah...the announcer was killin' me. Snow fight was tough. Too much running definitely but I think he did enough to win. Maybe a rematch but Rorie might win next time.
There were some concerns that ring announcer Pat O'Malley might have been sick last night. Doctors did talk to him during the card.
I thought Snow lost that fight last night to 5-5 guy. Now tells you Snow is not a championship caliber fighter.
where can you find out the paid attendance at all shows?
You may want to try the commission headquarters. Usually, however, the individiual promoters decided whether or not to release the paid attendance figures.

While last night's card was not star studded, the fights were evenly matched and entertaining. It was interesting talking to Alex Guererro's opponent's Johnny Fields to learn that not only did he not have any pro fights, but also had never fought an amateur fight. He told me he fights MMA and just wanted to work on his stand up fighting technique. Last night, that didn't happen.
Who knows what was wrong with the ring announcer, talk around the arena ranged from he recently suffered a stroke to he's been hitting the sauce. Time will tell.
I too felt that Tony Snow at best earned a draw. After the fight his opponent, Jason Rorie, told me that Snow did ask for a rematch. I did not confirm this with Snow's camp.
I thought it was a great show. And despite the ring announcer, managed very well.

ease up on Pat O'Malley, he's been around for a long time. He may have been sick or it could be something worse.
Agreed, Pat O'malley has earned the benefit of the doubt.
I will refrain from any comments in the hope that he is healthy, and hopes he returns and does well.
Sometimes records don't show how tough a fighter is. Jason Rorie's record is one of those. I have seen him several times and he always comes in great shape and pushes top fighters to their limits. the combined record of his opponents who he lost to at the time he fought them is 34-1 (And the the one loss is Snow's to Teon Kennedy).
Snow said to me afterward that he hoped to get a rematch with Jason in a month or two. both fighters felt they won every round but one.
Rorie has had several close bouts not go his way (and they were closer then the scorecards indicate).
I too was surprised how much Snow ran during the fight though. I guess his corner thought that he could prevent Rorie from scoring, but it made for a boring fight for the fans.

As Kurt said, Rorie's record is deceiving. I saw him fight and knew he could present some problems stylistically. So even though we didn't fight our best I can't take anything away from Rorie. He's a tough fighter and a great young man.
We've already offered the rematch and would like it to take place as soon as possible.
I was told that Snow would fight for a title soon, I don't know which title exactly, perhaps one of the regional ones. Is there any truth to this?
No, I dont think so. He just had split decision win against a guy who was 5-5. Which promoter is stupid enough to put up his money to promote a championship fight for Snow?
Snow, this is tough business man, you have to fight your way to the top. Dont be begging people for a title shot you dont deserve. It is like asking for a paycheck when you dont have a job. Stop begging and work hard. Believe me or not but I want you to make it. Do your road work, stay in the gym and listen to those who cares for you. And quit crying all the time!!!!
There are seemingly ongoing negotiations for Thomas Snow to take on Tyrell Samuel for the Maryland State Super Featherweight title. That's the only title fight we're talking about at this moment.
Snow keep doing your thing, I agree it was a tough fight but anybody in the ballroom could see that Rorie was a tough opponent. Keep working hard and keep working smart, u in the drivers seat... Boxers Box, Commentators Commentate, and Haters Hate... You keep on boxing

I think there is no doubt Snow won rounds 2 and 5. I gave Rorie 3 and 4. Rounds 1 and 6 were close but I gave the edge to Snow. I could see how others would have scored it for Rorie though.
I suspect more than anything many wanted to see a more dominating performance from Snow.
