Stevenson, Perkins-Batteast, Added to Dec. 11 Westminster Card!

Undefeated Baltimore welterweight prospect James "Keep 'Em Sleepin'" Stevenson has been added to the Friday, December 11 TNT PromotionsMaryland Boxing Club card at the Shipley Arena in Westminster, MD.

Stevenson (12-0, 10 KO's) will try to cap off a year where he won three regional titles when he faces Baltimore-born and Charlotte, NC-based John Williams (3-1-1, two KO's) in a six-round encounter. Stevenson is coming off an eight-round unanimous decision victory over Martinus Clay on October 16 in Baltimore. Williams was stopped in his last outing by 2008 Olympian Demetrius Andrade in the sixth round on October 3 in Lincoln, RI.

Also added to the card will be a four-round all-Maryland matchup between Fredrick's Allan "Pitbull" Perkins (1-1) and Vincent Batteast of Silver Spring (0-1-1).

Ferndale, MD cruiserweight Nick Kisner is once again slated to make his pro debut against Philadelphia's Ray Palmer (0-1). Baltimore junior middleweight Omar "The Machine" Sims (3-1-3, one KO) will make his fifth appearance in Westminster when he takes on the debuting Darius Ervin of Charlotte, NC.

Undefeated Baltimore welterweight (4-0, four KO's) Emmanuel "Transformer" Taylor will face Bumpass, VA's Dwayne "Diesel" Shelton (2-1-1) in a four-rounder.

There will also be a Toys for Tots drive taking place at the Shipley Arena on this evening. Bring a new or unused toy for the drive.

IS HE REALLY A TRU CHAMP THO? I SEEN YOUNGIN ALMOST GET STOP BY SOMEONE FRM DC IN 2007 Golden GloveS Championships OUT WALDORF.. ASK HIM WHATS HIS NAME? I DONT REMINDER THE KID NAME BUT HE REALLY GIVE IT TO HIM RIGHT BEFORE STEVENSON TURN PRO

The guy that beat him was david grayton who is a good fighter. I saw the fight but i dont really remember david being close to stopping him. I remember stevenson fought hard and gave a good account of himself but was kinda out classed.

Emaul Taylor stopped him

He has gotten better since then thats for sure

Manny is a beast, that dont count

Isn't David Grayton a southpaw? I think Stevenson has trouble against southpaws as many fighters do. But that's a challenge his team can help him adjust to. Stevenson seems to have a firm grasp of the basics. I think he has a great career ahead of him. Besides 07 golden gloves was 3 years ago.

stevenson do u keep it up

James Stevenson has never been stopped in the amateurs or the pros. James Stevenson has never even been dropped or knocked down and that includes sparring. You better go back and do your homework.

IS KID DAVID GRAYTON PRO YET? OR WHAT IS HE DOING NOW?

I stand by my earlier statement about Stevenson being a future champion thats my opinion. You may feel differently but I have seen him fight and spar with some of the best in the area and came away very impressed he is not there yet but he is on his way.

AWESOME!!! This card has three of the best local prospects in Keep em Sleeping Taylor and TNT. I will be there for sure!

Tucker's fight will definitely be the best Armenta is a tough cookie!

I hope after this tucker and stevenson try to take it to the next level I expect to see both especially stevenson on national tv one day soon

Stevenson is 12 & 0 fighting a Guy thats 3 & 1, I mean come on give me a Break!!!!! DUCK CITY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! James u are the New DON KING!

John Williams is no duck he has won multiple golden gloves state and regional tournaments. He has made multiple trips to national tournaments as well. John Williams has much more of an amateur pedigree than James Stevenson does. John Williams is not from North Carolina he is originally from BATB but lives in North Carolina now. John Williams just fought 2008 Olympian Demetrius Andrade (Southpaw) and almost went the distance at Light Middleweight (James Stevenson is a welterweight). It was a stand-up stoppage that could have easily continued with only 27 seconds left in the final round. A duck doesn't go 5 rounds 2 minutes and 33 seconds with Demetrius Andrade. Demetrius himself stated in an interview that he tried to use his power and mix it up but John was taking it well at which point he started using speed to win the fight. Demetrius also stated that John was a tough fighter. Once again, go do your homework.

This will be a great card. Just being in the opponets locker room will be something. Williams, Armenta, Batiste,Well the first 2 anyway, that is something. The other locker room Taylor, Perkins Tucker, Stevenson, Maryland you can't ask for more. Batiste is a nice guy but whoever thought about matching him up with Perkins needs to be fired.

Anonymous said...

Great card but Batiste needs to find new management because Perkins will knock him out. Bad management

Anonymous said...

James is a good fighter but needs to slow down before he becomes PUNCH DRUNK.

Allan Perkins fighting Stevenson would be a great fight.

The best prospect on this card is E.Taylor, he is the one boxer on this card that can actually fight. Why would Perkins and Stevenson be a good bout?? They r both from Maryland, they need to expand thier resumes and fight people from other locations so they can get thier names out. Whats wrong with u people always trying to pit the area fighters against each other, they dont get on the national stage fighting each other.

David Grayton would have been a decent pro. He did get knocked out in Waldorf by a mail man name Kevin Borders and the lost a decision to him again a year later in the Golden Gloves. I still think David grayton should make a come back, one knock out does not mean the end for him. I seen him in the gym 7 months ago and he looked very sharp sparring some kid who weighed more than he does. You guys need to look out for Twin Graves. He is the best 152 pounder on the east coast.

LLS NOW EVERYBODY KNOW DAVID DAYDAY GRAYTON NEVER BEEN KNOCKED OUT BY ANYONE... AND STILL IN THE GYM TRAINING VERY HARD. AND BEEN WINNING ALMOST EVERYTHING IN DMV. SO STOP THE LIES... YES HE LOST TO KEVIN BORDERS BY POINTS HIS 1ST YEAR BOXING EVER. AND BEEN TRYING TO FIGHT KEVIN BORDERS EVERY SINCE BUT SOMEHOW KEVIN ALWAYS FIND AWAY TO DUCK HIM... SO LEARN YOUR HISTORY FIRST BEFORE YOU COMMENT ON ANYTHING...

yea dats rite dayday and kevin only fought once.and i think kevin turn pro.and dayday just came frm utah dis year frm da gg nationals and give the #1 dude in 152 da best fite ever.

Taylor is the one guy on the card who can fight? How do we know if he can, he only fights complete tomato cans!

Anonymous said...

never fails you can't deny the talent all these guys have even Vince can fight. He isn't the most talented but if his chin can weather the storm you won't be disappointed in the fight

gnThats all good that John Williams accomplish alot in the Amateurs, but u missing the whole point, Pros are a whole differnt Ball-game! My point that I was trying to make is what is a 12 & 0 Guy with 10kos gonna gain from fighting a guy thats 3 & 1!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anonymous said...

Bernard Hopkins at 12 fights fought a 4-3 guy named Pedro Marquez. Floyd Mayweather fought a 1-13 guy at 8 fights named Jesus Chavez. Roy Jones Jr. fought a 0-2 guy at 9 fights named Tony Waddles. Joe Frazier fought a 3-5 guy at 10 fights named Memphis Al Jones. Jack Dempsey fought a 0-1 guy at 15 fights named George Coplin and many more guys with 0-whatever type records throughout his whole career up to the point he had about 50 fights. George Foreman fought a 3-0 guy when he was 25-0 named Charlie Boston and a 1-2 guy when he was 28-0 named Vic Scott he also fought a 1-14-1 guy that had been knocked out 12 times named Joe Murphy Goodwin at 32-0. Manny Pacquiao fought a 0-2 guy on his 17th fight named Sung-Yul Lee and a 0-4 guy on his 19th fight named Wook-Ki Lee. What did all of these World Champions gain? I could keep going on and on and on but I think you get the picture. I'm going to stop talking to you because you might learn something. I tell you yet again go do your homework. Great job Team Stevenson keep on doing what you are all doing.

You guys are wrong and right.
Kevin Borders is now a pro with a record of 7-1. He only fought Day Day one time and he won by TKO in the 3rd round. Look at HTTP:rt78 on youtube. Fight took place in Golden Gloves. I think in Baltimore.

This is to the guy who compared Stevenson to Foreman and others...Lets not twist the facts my friend...By the time Foreman fought the fighters you mentioned, he had already been tested, He already had wins over Chuck Wepner (18-4), George Chuvalo (59-15), Gregorio Peralta (82-6) he also had wins over guys with records including 19-7, 14-5, and 22-1! So that comparison is out the window...Even Manny before he fought the guy you mentioned had beaten a 21-7 fighter, and a 10-1 fighter...Mayweather already a win over a guy that was 12-3, and a win vs a 19-8 guy...So your comparison just doesn't fit at all, because these guys, especially Foreman (who you use as your prime example) had been tested to a degree. After 12 fights, Stevenson has not been tested, I am not saying he isn't good, or wont be a champion, but he has yet to be challenged...I think the toughest record he fought was 6-6...Now a 3-1 guy, hopefully next year they will give him a real challenge, so we can see if he really has the Potential of a Future Champion.

Testing someone with 12 fights doesn't really even make sense.

Anonymous said...

The Dude Headlining the Card "TNT" Tucker, has 12 fights, and he has been tested numerous times...U should be tested about every 5 fights, stepping up the competition, if Not, U never learn to deal with adversity.

To shiles why dont you actually post a link of that youtube vid. and i checked and i saw nothing of kevin borders as a pro. Hes not even on boxrec. so i dont know where you be getting your info on him.

Who should James Stevenson fight at 147lbs?

Anonymous said...

Stevenson at 47? maybe someone like Joey Myers, guy has a good record, and James would probably smoke him, that would be a good match for him to start next year. Then step up from there.

Anonymous said...

Who has Joey Myers? What is his contact info?

Anonymous said...

I have No idea who has Joey Myers, I just Know he is from West Virginia...and That I am Phenominal at Picking Opponents.

Shane Mosely and Bernard Hopkins have just purchased a table for the December 19th. fights at Rosecroft. Someone must be signed with Golden Boy or they are looking at a boxer who is on the card.
