Local Boxers and Coaches Lead US Team in Dual Meet VS Great Britain Oct. 16 in Norfolk!

The US National Team that will come to Norfolk, VA's Ted Constant Convocation Center on Friday, October 16 will have a distinct Beltway flavor as one of the boxers and a number of local trainers and officials will be apart of the team. The US squad will face a team from Great Britain in a dual competition.

Boxing for the US will be 2009 national featherweight champion Kevin Rivers of Landover, MD. As we mentioned earlier, Rivers recently participated in the AIBA World Championships in Milan, Italy and will receive the Outstanding Local Boxer award from the DC Boxing Hall of Fame next month.

Two of the coaches for this event are locals as well -- Barry Hunter of DC and Willie "The Heat" Taylor of Arlington, VA. They will join Norfolk's own Gloria Peek on the coaching staff.

The team manager will be Robert Matney, who is the president of the Virginia Association of USA Boxing and the team doctor will be Elkton, MD's Tony Al-Amin. Best wishes to all!
