Landover, MD featherweight Kevin Rivers will be part of an 11-member United States delegation that will head to Milan, Italy for the 2009 World Amateur Boxing Championships.
The US team is currently in Colorado Springs, CO for training before heading to Milan on August 24. The championships begin on September 1 and run until September 12. Only one boxer on the team -- super heavyweight Michael Hunter -- has participated in the World Championships. Rivers competed in the under-19 world championships in Guadalajara, MX last October.
