Lockett Battles McCreedy in Rhode Island This Friday!

Takoma Park, MD light heavyweight Willis "The Prophet" Lockett returns to the road to take on "Irish" Joe McCreedy of Lowell, MA in a six-round contest on Friday, May 22 at the Twin River Event Center in Lincoln, RI.

Lockett (11-7-5, five KO's, two NC) is coming off a third-round stoppage of Larry Marks on April 24 in Dover, DE. By the way, Lockett lost one of his recent wins as his four-round unanimous decision over Dante Craig on March 14 in Cincinnati was declared a no-contest, according to Boxrec.com. No reason was given for the change in decision.

McCreedy (10-2-1, five KO's) won an eight-round majority decision over Richard Stamino on February 6 in Lincoln. This will be McCreedy's seventh straight appearance in Lincoln. Two of those bouts came against Henry Mayes in the spring of 2008. Mayes won the first outing in April via six-round split decision and reportedly caused a mini-riot after the announcement. McCreedy came back in May and won a six-round split decision.

By the way, Lockett faced Mayes in November of 2008 in DC and the bout was declared a no-contest after two rounds because Lockett was given a standing eight count, which is against DC rules.
