Great job by all the boxers that made it this far!! I must say that Kareem Martin's last bout was the "Fight of the Tournament" against a tough Region 8 kid (California) and Jerry Odom or Mr. Odom as everyone likes to call him was up there too with the best showings of the tourney. Vids will be online soon - stay tuned.

Congrats again to all of our beltway boxers that are now #1 in the United States of America. 2012 - watch out.

my bad! hats off to Zimmie and Jordan. They are the only two who boxed and won all 3 fights. Those two deserve those titles as Silver Gloves Champions. Great Job guys~~~

just because boxers didn't box all 3 days at the tourny - doesn't really mean they deserve the title any less. the fact is that at the local, region and national level - boxers don't compete every day. if there is an odd number of entries for any of these tournaments - someone (may be more than one boxer) must get a bye and not compete. It's done all with computers, so it's random. the boxers that show up box whoever is put in front of them. if they dont lose, they deserve the title of champion. that's my opinion.

Was disappointed with the overall level of competition down there this year!

Jordan should have gotten outstanding fighter for 10/11 age group. Short-Dog rumbled his little tail off all three nights.

Hats off to all who won the Championship and everybody who represented the area! Great Job!

if region 8 won again this year and region 3 came in 2nd again this year just like around the last 20 years since 1985. what was wrong with the level of competition? from the looks of youtube-the fights looks pretty damn good, furthermore, most of these boxers are top rated guys who have been involved in several national tournaments. dc md did so good the mr hinton received an outstanding award along with 2nd place award. now put that in your pipe and smoke it...

I feel the sandman keegan grove got screwed in the semi finals. you fought your heart out young man and you made region 3 proud .you truely are a tuff sob keep up the good work

Dont Worry! Be Happy! They words that say "I WAS ROBBED" are pathetic. Such a cop out! Just go home-train harder. You obvisiously did not do enough. Look at the tape-it clearly shows that you lost. Your punches were not landing correctly. Just a bunch of uneccessary noise. Why all the hollering anyway. Dont get me wrong-the sandman can fight, but that day belonged to the Screaming Eagle.

whos talking about watching a tape i was at the fight.the sandman had him crying in the corner.anyways this is called boxing not wrestling dude was hangin all over the sandman the whole fight.u talk about training hard you must not know the real sandman kid bangs allday long .not to mention one of the most polite kids around keep bangin sandman

Sandman did look good, but his punches were not landing properly.
Yes he may be a nice youngster-I dont know. I just know what I seen.
Sandman put up a decent fight but he clearly lost. I think Sandman would have did much better if he had better conditioning. He was somewhat tired towards the end of the second round. Does he do roadwork? Does he ever get to spar?
More sparring & Roadwork might help him out during his fights. I am sure he will be a future Silver Glove Champ. Just needs to train harder! Good Luck Next Year Sandman....

The person who comment that boxers who don't box all 3 days deserve the title just as much as the boxers that did must have never boxed a day in his life!!! Don't get me wrong, they have the title none the less and there is no control of how many boxers are in the weight classes. BUT there should be a special notice of a kid that boxes 3 days straight and walks away with the title. 3 days of weigh-ins, 3 days of competition and 3 days to stay mentally focus for battle. Congrats to all of the winners BUT a special congratulations all boxers that competed all 3 days! Champions and Runner-up!

By the way, I come from the time [much long ago] when you went to a tournament you have to box twice a day let alone all week. Gary, keep up the good work!

Last poster, do you realize that this tournament is a three-leg event?? So, you're saying a boxer that boxed 3 days in a row at the nationals but got a walkover at the regionals and locals is somehow more of a champion than a boxer that boxed twice in locals at Rosecroft, twice in North Carolina and only two days at nationals?? Or if a boxer was in a bracket with 7 total boxers and he got the only bye on day 1, he's less of a champion. YOu must have boxed too much!! That's crazy.

Like's like saying a fighter isn't a good boxer because he KOs people before he can display his skills. KOing opponents is not a "fault" and neither is not having enough boxers entered in a tournament.

I've seen you before. You're the same guy complaining about the PALs not having enough fights as a national tournament. Here's what you do - get some boxers of your own, put them into these tournaments, so our local champs can have enought Ws to satisfy YOU. BTW, did you notice that you're the only one who feels this way? And don't try to post more comments under different names. People had damn near a week to agree with you. They didn't. hahaahaaa

they r all champions! i no its harder for some than most especially when u r 13 and weigh over 200 lbs. we do have to give credit to the kids who fought 3 times and rosecroft, 3 times at augusta and 3 times in missyouri, kansas

Look Man! The two young boxers who fought 3 times in Kansas and won the belt are true Champions. They did more and it was harder for them. Stop being jealous cuz you know a boxer who fought once or he was unnaposed!!!

Anonymous said...

the youngins who fought 3 times in Kansas are only 10-11. give them credit. is it that important for you to knock what they did.
Zimmie & Jordan are true soldiers!!!

It was North Carolina not Georgia! No one boxed 3 days at Rosecroft - it was only two day show.
