Martin Upsets Blackwell With Vicious KO in Philadelphia!

Baltimore featherweight Darrell Martin has scored a stunning upset in the Legendary Blue Horizon in Philadelphia, PA tonight. Martin scored a vicious third-round knockout over Jules Blackwell in a bout shown live on www.gofightlive.tv.

Martin had Blackwell in trouble midway through the first round landing a right hand that buckled Blackwell in Martin's corner. Martin held his advantage in the second but Blackwell seemed to make his way back into the bout.

That changed, however, in the third as Martin landed a vicious counter right hand that put Blackwell flat on his back. Referee Hurley McCall stopped the bout immediately at 2:23 of the round.

Martin has now won two straight bouts and scored the first knockout of his pro career. Martin is now 4-6, one KO. Blackwell falls to 8-2, three KO's.

In a bit of irony, Blackwell's only other loss was to highly-touted prospect Eric Hunter of Philadelphia (also by knockout in the third round). Hunter also holds a victory over Tyrell Samuel, who is Martin's cousin.

I knew it! I knew that youg boy was going to beat Blackwell. I saw him fight on my show last month and I heard few things about Blackwell. I knew this was going to happen. Plus, he has one of the best trainer who had been there and more, former world champion Vincent Pettway. Congratulations guys!!

Pac (Darrell Martin)had a great outing against a much respected Jules Blackwell. Blackwell boasted a winning record of 8-1-1 with 3 kills on his resume. On top of that he is a slick southpaw. I must admit that I personally questioned the wisdom of taking a fight for Pac with such a skilled and experienced Philly fighter in Philly.
Pettway showed an insight that proved to be golden in picking Blackwell. Pac has always been known for have a ton of heart and being as game as a game cock and it payed off big time for him. Pac had blackwell in trouble in the first round with a right hand. The announcers commented on how wild Pac's style is but had him in control of the fight from round one. Pac seemed to know that he had his man out when he dropped that right hand in the third round. He threw the punch and just watched him fall just as Joe Louis used to do. Very impressive win for young pac. Chin from the honeycomb boxing gym.
