Here's an update on the Babie Girl Promotions card coming to the Howard University Burr Gymnasium on Saturday, December 20.
Bowie, MD heavyweight Horace "The Reason" Grant will battle veteran Mike Miller of Akron, OH in a six-round bout that will be a rematch of their April 18th bout at the Pikesville National Guard Armory in Pikesville, MD. Grant (13-2, eight KO's) won the first encounter by six-round majority decision. Miller(6-13-2, three KO's) won his last bout on November 14 at the Maryland Sportsplex in Millersville, MD by second-round disqualification over Kareem Wilson.
"Contender -- Season One" participant Jesse Brinkley of Las Vegas, NV (31-5, 21 KO's) will prepare for his February 14th battle with fellow Contender star Joey Gilbert by taking on veteran "Gentleman" James Johnson of Shreveport, LA in a six-round contest.
Also, 2008 Ghanaian Olympian Bastie "The Beast" Samir (2-0, two KO's) is slated to be on the card. Samir, now living in Las Vegas, NV has scored first-round knockouts in both his bouts.

It certainly is entertaining when Cassandra White promotes a show. This is some of the funniest stuff I have read in a while! Let's review the recipe for success here: December 20th - 5 days before Christmas - in this economy? All of the college students will be gone as well. How about that Main Event? One guy who hasn't fought anywhere near the US and another guy from Chicago. I couldn't see many people coming to see that one. I'm not trying to be a hater here, and this young lady is trying to get something going, but this show is doomed from a financial point of view. I am assuming the matchmaker for the show is still Jack Crider. Perhaps Cassandra is just listening to everything Jack is saying from a boxing perspective. I wonder if Jack has anything to do with the World Boxing Foundation (that's the title Qato and Estrada are fighting for). I'd be interested to find that out. Just a word of advice from someone who has been in the game for a long time to Promoter Cassandra White - CANCEL THE SHOW! Cut your losses now or have really deep pockets to absorb the $20,000 minimum loss you are going to take on this show! I hope I'm wrong and I hope you sell out, but I just hate to see someone "walking the plank" like you are doing for the show on December 20th.
It seems like Sugar Poop burned his bridges here back when he was running from the law and being an arrogant little poop. So now, no one cares a hoot about poop. Maybe he needs to go back to living off his family member and being a gofer for the famous football player. Oh I forgot, football player got tired of Poop being a lazy ass and threw his ass out. i saw sugarpooh fight on espn a few mounths ago he looked good,he knocked the guy out in the 9th round.i think sugarpooh needs to keep up the good work,and stay focus,and he will be fine.to sugarpoo i say dont worry about haters if you wasnt doing nothing,no one have spit it say bout you,but when they talk bout you that means your doing something right.i like the way you fight,and i like your swagg...keep up the good work young bro,and you will go far....ps dont fight no more with a broken hand,thats not good.my girl friend son helped you take your cast off your hand in sears,do you remember that.you gave him 40dollers to help you,so you know im telling the truth...GOD BLESS

Baby Girl Productions put on a great card for the DC area and found a new fan base that was very exciting to watch as a spectator. I have read some of the comments and if DC fighters want to participate on DC cards…stand up and sell tickets to support the local promoters. Most…not all DC, MD, and VA fighters think that you should make all the money without putting in the work to help the promoter. When you sell tickets you help yourself more than the promoter. In the past when there were great shows in DC, all the DC fighters wanted to fight on the cards to been seen and you did not even care who you were fighting, but when someone else ask you to fight you look at them like they’re crazy. And, the real killer is most fighters think you should negotiate a fight like you are having a street conversation with your buddies. Hey…look this is business not the third grade lunch line. Let me give some tips to area fighters to help with your careers. 1. Get an experienced manger…and not your trainer or your friend. I see it all the time money is misappropriated and you don’t even know it. If your trainer does not agree…get a new trainer. 2. Do your research…know what you should pay your team members (33.3% max). 3. Stay in the gym; know your craft and work your craft…be excellent at everything you do. 4. Don’t be a hater, support local shows. Even if you were not on the card support the promoter…that goes a long way. 5. Stop gossiping on the blog…be positive and respectfully. 6. Sell yourself and develop a fan base. 7. Hey if your not on the card…buy a ticket to the show. If you have free tickets don’t scalp tickets in front of the boxing show…if you don’t know that’s stealing. 8. Most fighters like all athletes are ledges in your own mind…support the show and the promoter. Don’t stand outside an event looking to get in free like you’re the man when you just turned pro. Anyone can be a pro fighter…fifty bucks and a Fed. I.D. (establish yourself as a professional). 9. Show class at all times and to every person you meet. You never know to whom you are speaking. 10. Live in the Word not the streets. Let God direct your path. I hope all fighters take the tips to heart and make changes in your direction. DC is a great city to put on shows, but it will never work without the support of all area boxing fans and fighters. Give Cassandra much respect it’s easy to give comments from the sidelines, put your money up and see how your view changes.
