Jeter Wins by Second-Round TKO in Millersville!

Jessup, MD junior middleweight Tony "Mo Better" Jeter successfully ended a tumultuous 48-hour period for Better Promotions in the ring tonight as he scored a second-round TKO over Darrett Crockett of Rock Hill, SC in the main event at the Maryland Sportsplex in Millersville, MD.

Jeter dropped Crockett with a right hand midway through the first round, then was caught by a Crockett right hand sending Jeter to the canvas in the last 10 seconds of the round.

Jeter was able to right the ship in the second round and pressure Crockett, finally landing a right hand that dropped Crockett and cut him above the right eye. Crockett could not continue and the fight was stopped at 2:39 of the second round.

Jeter is now 7-2, six KO's while Crockett falls to 6-21, four KO's.

Jeter's bout was not originally slated to be the main event. However, earlier in the day, the scheduled main event between Reggie "The Mechanic" Holly of DC and Ryan Belasco of Delaware was scratched because of medical reasons. Representatives for Better Promotions said that medical personnel diagnosed a detached retina for Holly. Officials for the Maryland State Athletic Commission did not confirm this, saying only that Holly did not meet the requirements necessary to be licensed for the bout. This forced the promotional staff to scramble to put on other bouts.

The co-feature on the card featured debuting DC heavyweight Kareem Wilson who took on veteran Mike "The Millionaire" Miller of Akron, OH. Miller drove all day from Akron to make it to the bout and his drive was rewarded, thanks to Wilson who apparently could not get himself to listen to referee John Gradowski's commands in the ring and was disqualified in the second round for his trouble. Miller is now 6-13-2, three KO's.

In other pro bouts on the card, undefeated middleweight Dwayne "Diesel" Shelton of Richmond, VA scored a minor upset over previously undefeated "Mighty" Mike Tiberi of Townsend, DE, winning a four-round unanimous decision. Shelton provided a very awkward style for Tiberi to deal with and as a result, Tiberi was less active than Shelton during the course of the bout, although the bout seemed closer than the judge's scores indicated. Judges Don Risher and John Gradowski scored a shutout for Shelton, 40-36 while Judge Malik Waleed scored the bout 39-37. Shelton is 2-0 while Tiberi is 6-1, three KO's.

The pro portion of the card got off to a great start with a wild four-round junior middleweight bout between the debuting Vincent "The Beast" Batteast of Severn, MD and Dontre "Pound-For-Pound" King of Cambridge, MD. Both men traded knockdowns and battled furiously before settling for a split decision draw. King's record is now 1-2-1.

On the amateur part of the show, Demond Giddens of the Down Under Boxing Club in Salisbury, MD defeated Chris Milton of Club One Fitness in Millersville in a 152-pound bout. Jabri Melvin of Down Under defeated Doug Greene of Club One in a 141-pound bout and in a wild Master's heavyweight contest, Laurel Boxing Club's Richard Farrell defeated Brian Lamb of Club One in the first amateur bout for both men.

well i finally drove over to catch one of md's shows. I wasn't impressed with the estimated 300 people there. The parking for the facility was horrible. Some of the fights were pretty entertaining. Allthough the fight i drove a long way to see didn't even happen. Congrats to dwayne shelton for scoring a nice upset. Now for the next order of business....WHERE IN THE HELL DID THEY GET THOSE RING CARD GIRLS? They looked like stick figures up there, well with the exception of one who had an abnormally large ass. But come on these girls looked like gingerbread men with pantys on. The were flat as hell on the front and back.(with the one exception) And they had on granny panties and could fill them out, so it looked pretty ruff. it's bad when you can't even get drunk men to scream at you!haha well i'll let that alone. Congrats to tony for another win and another show. I just see lots of room for improvement.

I listened to the post fight interviews and I am looking forward to when Tony starts calling people out in 2009. This last guy was a total joke. As Jetter says he he had been in with some world champions and was tough guy- well, being knocked out by Ivan Robinson in the second round when Ivan was 7-0, does not make you a tough guy. Come on Digital, would you please show some quality control. Crocket was a Carolina stiff, and how the commission approved that is amazing. So I will wait to buy my next ticket to a MBP show when Jetter fights someone with a pulse.

Tony Jeter would knock Jessie Nicklow out in second round. That is if Jessie comes out of retirement.

WHERE IN THE WORLD DO YOU GET THAT CROCKETT IS A CREDITABLE FIGHTER? He is worse than a Matt Hill, who Tony begged the commision to let him fight. 4 out of crockets 6 wins came against 0-0 fighters making their 1st fight.

And just for the record Tony is not a junior middle-weight. He has not weighed at the junior middle-weight limit since 2001 (almost 8 years ago). Since he came back in 2005 he has only weighed 2 times under the middle-weight limit out of 5 fights.

Its cool that you are doing a 3 hat job, and if you want to fight guys 6-20, 3-13, etc more power to ya. 90% of us on here dont fight, but when you down talk other local fighters and other local promoters you actually down-grade yourself.

I think your promotion team will progress further by eliminating the trashing of other fighters/promoters. Sorta like the peoples on the site.

Who cares?

I don't recall Tony bad mouthing other promotors on the blog. I don't hear him calling out anybody either. Yes Tony has weighed in at over the jr. middleweight limit for a long time but he's still a jr. middleweight. Most fighters fight a little over there weight class unless its for some sort of title fight. To all of you who want to badmouth Tony and the promotion, go out and promote your own shows. See what its like putting a card together even at the club level.

Good luck Tony and Better Promotions

Mike

I think they were badmouthing Tony the fighter, not Tony the promoter...LMAO! That's funny Tony has promoted 2 shows and he's your hero Mike. thought he already had a girl. Can't he stand up for his own grown ass?

The beast Beteest and Dantre King.
Great Great Fight. Not the most skilled but both guys full of heart and both were pushed by their corners to win the fight.
handlers in the corner don't get enough credit for what they do
at fight time, especially in a fight like this.

Mr Jeeter and company you put together a couple of nice fights
but the ring girls leave alot to be desired and Hey tony tone down that hair doo please.

The Beast should have one that fight. Dontra King ran from him from the middle of the third round until the end of the fight. I don't know what the one judge saw that had him score King above The Beast. Hopefully there will be a rematch, the first two rounds were very good.
