Lange Faces 'Wiley' Veteran November 1 at the Patriot Center!

Great Falls, VA junior middleweight Jimmy Lange will battle veteran Grover Wiley of Omaha, Nebraska in a scheduled 10-round main event at the George Mason University Patriot Center on Saturday, November 1.

Lange (28-3-2, 20 KO's) is coming off the eight-round technical knockout win over Fontaine Cabell on May 12, 2007 at the Patriot Center. Wiley (30-11-1, 14 KO's) has lost his last five and six of his last seven against opponents with a combined record of 249-13-4. Wiley's best known for ending the career of the legendary Julio Cesar Chavez. Wiley stopped Chavez in the fifth round on September 17, 2005 in Phoenix, AZ. Ironically, one of Wiley's six recent losses came at the hands of Julio Cesar Chavez, Jr., who stopped his father's conqueror in the third round on June 9, 2007 in New York City.

Another bout signed for this card matches two former Lange opponents. The aforementioned Fontaine "The Flame" Cabell of Orlando, FL will take on Chad "Taz" Greenleaf of Parkesburg, WVA in an eight-round contest.

Cabell (22-8-2, 17 KO's) is coming off a fourth-round technical knockout loss to Freddy Curiel on October 16 in Carson, CA. Greenleaf (10-10-1, four KO's) suffered a third-round knockout loss to Jessie Nicklow in his last outing on April 18 in Pikesville, MD.

Both men suffered losses to Lange during their careers. Cabell drew with Lange in a 12-round bout for the WBC Continental Americas Junior Middleweight title on December 9, 2006 at the Patriot Center, then lost the rematch. Greenleaf lost an eight-round unanimous decision to Lange on May 10, 2003 at the DC Armory.

As mentioned first on BATB, the rematch between Alexandria's Jaime "The Punisher" Palma and Dean "Pit Bull" White of Smithsburg, MD will also be part of this card.

See what I'm saying? Hardly any heat, no comments on this thread. People don't care about this show. They better add a LOCAL FLAVOR to the show and add it soon or else they'll have 6 people there. Chad Greenleaf vs. Fontaine Cabell? What the hell is that all about? Dean White vs. Jaime Palma? It was a shitty fight the first time. Lange vs. Wiley? He already knocked him out once. They better pick up the pace or they are going to get crushed on this one!

Lange has NEVER faced Wiley before. Check the record.

You're right Digital, my bad. I got him confused with Homer Gibbons. Homer, Grover, who's next? Kermit the Frog?

Keep your Sesame Street Ass home. Lange's camp has always brought a great night for fans. Measure your ticket sales against theirs.

And... if you are not in that league, but are a fan, who wants to curl up with a sucking thumb, get your remote and tune in to whatever floats that little mindless boat of yours.

Way to go Linda! Yes, I think that anonymous' real affliction is his losing battle with The Green-Eyed Monster.

It starting to look like a good night of boxing at the Patriot Center. Fontaine Cabell vs Chad Greenleaf is not a bad match up, both are punchers. Matches were both fighters sit in the ring talking about the weather is matches you don't want, So I doubt those two fighter's will do that. I would think the same with Dean White and Jamie Palma, should be a good punching match. Jimmy Lange vs Wiley Grover should also be a good match, Jimmy and the lay off for all those mouths, with that match up we will see what he looks like now. When Jimmy fought Homer Gibbons that was a Espn match if I recall right? that was a good fight for Jimmy. Homer was no push over! If the Lange camp picks up another three pretty good matches it should be a good night out at the Patriot Center.

Dean White is always going to bring it.

Total joke and Lange needs to retire! Or better yet, bring back the kid from the contender Joey Gilbert who starched him! This card and the promoter are a joke!

Their will always be a match that should have been thought out better before a fight, Joey Gilbert being one of them. Not sure if he ever got his boxing license back yet? "starched" maybe? Under different circumstances maybe not? you need to do your own homework on that. All promoter's are business people and if you play the business game good you will have allot of friends and allot of enemy's thats business! And we all know keep your friends near and your enemy's closer :)

Dean White is about as done as a piece of burnt toast. He has zip left. Jaime Palma beats him again. And, it was a terrible fight the first time. Why would they have a rematch?

Anonymous said...

Maybe these negative post should put on there on shows or just stay home and be there own main event.

Dean White's got more heart than alot of fighters on this card.

Anonymous said...

He got heart but he aint got a brain! Punch drunk sucker needs to give it up he gonna get hurt bad. Palma cant punch so thats okay but that out to be it for Dean.

Anonymous said...

How's he gonna get hurt if palma can't punch?

What's the matter you can't spell OUGHT> Sounds like your punch drunk.

As far as all the digs at spelling, i am not punch drunk and I can't add 2 + 2 for crap, but I am as articulate as the day is long. So what?

Just glean the meaning and stop with the "I can spell better than you so I am right nonsense". Thing is you may have (probably) replied to your own post (s)!

This blog is hospitable to all, so why not just speak your mind straight up and sign your name. 'aight?

Just because this blog is hospitable to everyone

Just remember, this is the Jimmy and Johnny Lange show. It is not a promoter promoting a six or seven bout card and trying put on some good fights for the paying customer. No, this is the Langes putting on what is basically a vanity show for Jimmy. So they bring in a guy who he will hopefully look good against in Grover Wiley. Wiley began his career as a junior lightweight (130) and his last fight was at 142, against Lange who is 4 or 5 inches taller and a junior middleweight. So at best that fight is a competitive mismatch- game little guy taking on a much bigger, much stronger and younger guy in Lange, who basically will beat him into submission and a middle round stoppage. What fun. The rest of the card is window dressing for the Lange showcase. So the fans should at this point know what they are buying and buy it if they want to line Jimmy and Johnny's pockets, or don't if they have better ways to spend their money. I might suggest something like getting your teeth drilled that night as a better and less painful way to spend your money.

Sounds like YOU ARE punch drunk, not your punch drunk.

I am, you are, he/she/it is. You know? Maybe you don't (that is do not).

BUT - I hear big things about what's coming next!!!!!!!!!! Stay tuned!!!!!!!!!

The Lange Camp is not the only one who puts on a "vanity show", but they are indeed one of the best. Why is a "vanity show" a bad thing? It gives other fighters good bouts/exposure and fans something to do other than think about the dentist.

Bash them until the cows come home, any vanity fight I ever attended had a promoter with heart and soul, not only into their fighter, but EVERYTHING about the promotion. I would rather be at any of their fights, any night!

I believe that beyond the $$ in the pocket, what means more to them is the finished product.

No doubt a I hate Jimmy and Johnny post? Their needs to be a promoter doing a show if I am not mistaken? I don't think Johnny or Jimmy are promoters? If you don't put on a show for "paying customers" the public, boxing fans, why put on a show at all right? A "vanity" show just for Jimmy that would not make allot of sense. A show for all boxers would make better sense. After doing a little research on Grover Wiley he was at 130 weight in 94 his first year of pro boxing? after that he went up in weight 95 up, like any other boxer he was going up and down depending on what match he had lined up. Allot of his matchs were 150 and up which are the same as Jimmy. Being 4/5 inchs taller thats funny, younger guy "Lange" not mush of age difference there. pretty sad to put down boxers that put their all in what they do.
