DC junior welterweight Ty Barnett remained undefeated with a sixth-round TKO over Jose Leonardo Cruz last night in the main event at the HP Pavilion in San Jose, CA.
According to Aron Glatzer of the San Jose Mercury News, Barnett got off to a slow start but picked things up in the fourth round, using jabs and body shots.
Barnett (15-0-1, 11 KOs) finally reaped the rewards of his assault on the body. Midway through the sixth round he brought Cruz (12-4-2, eight KO's) in close before landing a right-upper cut followed by a left hook. Barnett, 25, knocked Cruz down with a similar combination moments later.
Barnett pounded Cruz on the ropes before the fight was called. Cruz simply couldn't withstand the pounding.
