The 23rd annual Mayor's Cup Invitational Amateur Boxing Tournament will be this Friday and Saturday, August 22-23 at the Kennedy Recreation Center, 1401 7th Street, NW in DC.

In the past, this event has featured truly the future of boxing as a number of Beltway Boxers went on to become world and regional pro champions. This year's event is being presented by the Boxing Information Center and the Midtown Youth Academy.

NAT williams received $8,600 from sponsers to send these boxers out of town and to help the kids and local gyms with equipment. he never gave anyone a dime of the money. he is a damn crook. i questioned him last thursday and he got very upset and told me he would discuss it later in private.
had the nerve to offer me 5 tickets for the kids to see the nationals. $8,600 went into his pocket and the has been going on for years. Rick Bolding never received that much money, yet he helped all the boxers with food, travel, hotel,etc....Boxing Information Center needs to change its name to Crooks 4-eva Center.

dc rec gave nat william 13,000 dollars last year for him to give them 20 cent trophies and continetal breakfast. he's bounced checks all around town and his reputation stinks. he's only concerned with how much money he can get from dc commission, dc sports and entertainment, dc parks etc. he threw midtown in as a front. poor mr. hughes don't know he's being pimped. nat gave him 300 dollars for equipment and he's happy as can be. nat williams promised dc clubs if they participated in this event he would give them money for equipment/travel for their clubs. the trick was they had to participate and he would give them the money at a later date. don't hold your breath. it will never happen cuz you don't have it in writing! plus he's going to say the expenses for this event were so expensive that he lost his shirt. I agree with 1977 finley BIC should be called Crooks 4-eva Center!!!! You can take this to the bank - if you don't believe me call the BIC right now and ask for assistance with your boxers going out of town. There will definitely be a song and dance. No money will be transferred but Nat will make all of these claims that he's here to promote boxing. all these ppl in boxing don't make a dime and he's getting over and don't have 1 damn boxer! where are your boxers Nat???? you know, the ones you don't have to help to travel or get equipment for. those boxers! damn rip off!

Is it at Kennedy or Armory?

I just double checked with the organizers and the cup will be at Kennedy Recreation Center.

The listing there for the Armory was a mistake. Thanks for pointing that out.
