Mitchell Weighs 242 1/2 For Tonight in Cabazon, CA!

Undefeated Brandywine, MD heavyweight Seth "Mayhem" Mitchell (3-0-1, two KO's) weighed in at 242 1/2 pounds for his matchup tonight at the Morongo Resort and Casino in Cabazon, CA. This will be Mitchell's first bout since May 29 when he stopped Alexis Cruz Medina in the second round in Glen Burnie, MD.

This bout will be on the undercard of the Jeff Lacy-Epifanio Mendoza bout on ESPN2. I don't think the bout will be televised unless the two main bouts go very quickly.

Mitchell's scheduled opponent, Henry Namauu of Las Vegas, did not weigh in yesterday. Hopefully, he will hit the scale today.

Namauu (2-1, one KO) should be in decent shape. He fought just five days ago and won a four-round unanimous decision over Chad Davis on July 18 in Primm, NV.

The last time Mitchell was in Cabazon, CA, he faced a similar situation: a last-minute opponent (Alvaro Morales) who was in a bout a week earlier. Mitchell ended up fighting to a draw.

According to Boxrec, this was a NC. Was there just not enough time for this?

Seth's bout would have been on TV probably too. All the early fights ended quick. They had a lot of time fillers they ran.

I stand corrected. According to http://www.thesweetscience.com/boxing-article/6083/jeff-lacy-survives-epifanio-barely/

"Las Vegas heavyweight Henry Namauu (2-2) accepted a fight on 24-hour notice, jumped on a plane to take medicals at 6 a.m. the next morning in San Pedro, and with little sleep stepped in the ring to face hard-hitting Seth Mitchell (4-0, 4 KOs) of Maryland. He was knocked down twice and knocked out with a final right cross on the chin at 1:30, but proved his mettle in landing more than a few blows of his own. It was a gutsy effort by Namauu."
