L. Peterson Weighs 141 for Vegas Bout!

Both Lamont Peterson (right) and Rogelio Castaneda weighed in at 141 pounds for their matchup tomorrow night for their nationally-televised, scheduled 10-round matchup at Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, NV.

The bout will be the opening bout on the SHOBOX telecast tomorrow night. The telecast begins at 11 PM ET.

By the way, there is some interesting news concerning Anthony Peterson. ESPN.com's Dan Rafael is reporting that A. Peterson was slated to be in a co-feature bout on August 2 on HBO. The original opponent was slated to be "Kid Diamond" Almazbek Raiymulkov. However, Peterson's new promoters -- Top Rank -- nixed that bout based reportedly on A. Peterson's last performance. Top Rank suggested Jose "El Gallo" Reyes as an opponent but HBO turned that bout down. Rafael says that Top Rank may still go with Reyes and if that ends up being the bout, HBO will show highlights of the contest during the telecast.

One other note. I can't say much about this because nothing is in stone, but there could be another reason why August 2 could be an interesting night for the Beltway Boxing scene. I should know more on this by the end of this month.

2 questions:
-How do you like Lamont's chances?
-Even after listening to the youcastr, I'm still confused. What's the situation regarding Lamont getting a title shot if he wins?

Go Lamont!

I think Lamont will give a good performance tonight against a decent veteran and win pretty impressively.

About the title shot, I'm hearing two things:

1. A win tonight by Lamont will put him in line for a chance at the winner of the main event tonight -- the WBO junior welterweight title bout between Ricardo Torres and Kendall Holt. A win by Lamont wouldna't necessarily make him the mandatory challenger, though.

2. There is also talk that the winner of the Torres-Holt bout might face WBC champion Timothy Bradley in a unification bout, which would freeze Lamont out for the time being.

Both the Lamont and Anthony seem to be caught up in political b.s which is all too common in boxing. these are two magnificent fighters whose careers are ready to take off. I hope Lamont wins impressively and gets his chance.

Note: I have just moved to the Randallstown area (Baltimore County) and am looking for some good sparring. I am a cruiserweight who spent many years in boxing. If anoyone could give me some addresses to some good gyms where there are good heavyweights to spar with.

Also, Gary I enjoy the site. It really kept me updated with the area boxing while I was in Europe..
