'Fair But Firm' Cortez Gets Thompson-Klitschko Bout!

Veteran referee Joe Cortez has been chosen as the referee for the Wladimir Klitschko-Tony Thompson championship bout on Saturday. This choice made despite Cortez coming under fire for his performance during the bout between Humberto Soto and Francisco Lorenzo two weeks ago.

Two of the three judges will be from the US -- Michael Pernick and John Stewart. The third judge will be Manfred Kuchler of Germany.

Oh yeah, also, Digital, what do you think? Think the complaints about Cortez are warranted? I mean, his decision actually got overturned by the WBC.

I think Cortez will do well. He usually does a better job with bigger guys. I think the complaints are warranted, but I don't have a major problem with him as referee.
