Suitland, MD 114-pounder Antonio Magruder has advanced to the finals of the 2008 Junior Olympics National Championship in Marquette, MI.
Magruder defeated Manuel Avila of Fairfield, CA by decision, 18-12. Magruder will take on Luis Cortez of Las Vegas, NV in the finals. Cortez decisioned Jeremy Longoria of Corpus Christi, TX, 9-8.
Female 132-pounder Asia Stevenson of DC also made it to the final round as she won a 16-8 decision over LeTeisha Darden of Wilmington, NC. Stevenson will battle Valerie Farley of Port Huron, MI in the final round. Farley defeated Jasmine Acevedo of Beeville, TX by a 9-2 decision.
DC's 125-pounder Antoine Douglas lost his semifinal bout by stoppage in the second round to Joel Diaz of Palmdale, CA. Chris Warden of Lusby, MD lost by a 20-10 decision to Pedro Sosa of the Bronx, NY in the 145-pound class.
