Rivera Stopped in Fourth in Pennsylvania!

George "Wartime" Rivera was stopped in the fourth round by Latif Mundy tonight in Monroeville, PA. Rivera did have a welt under his left eye, but it looked like Rivera may have had rib issues. The doctor stopped the bout at the end of the fourth.

Rivera's record falls to 8-2, three KO's. Mundy remains undefeated at 8-0, three KO's.

Fightnews said Rivera just didnt answer the bell for the 5th round. The doc should check out his heart.

I don't think you have to worry about Georges heart.
I'm sure it was a tough fight and I'm sure george got his licks in
too.
Of all the people for you to start picking on you probably picked one of the most likable and most popular fighters in the area.
I won't say on this blog what I would say to your face but you can believe it wouldn't be very pleasant

Sorry to hear Rivera lost, I hope he is not seriously injured.

Fans need to realize these athletes put themselves in harms way every time they enter the ring to fight, the mere act of lacing on the gloves, entering the ring and answering the bell dispels any question about Rivera's heart- to watch him fight and the manner he engages further dispels such silliness.

Recover quickly Mr. Rivera.

I watched the fight and I thought George looked really good, but didn't seem to be fighting with his usual style and fire, actually subdued, so perhaps something was wrong from the beginning. I am going to watch the fight again later.

Hope all is well and can't wait for his next fight.

Southpaw...

There's plenty of fighters who step in the ring who have no heart. Just stepping in there to fight doesn't mean jack.

Some guys are blessed with fast feet, lightning reflexes, or imperviousness to punches and barely get tested while beating others up. He could go on for years without anyone knowing there's a total lack of heart. There's plenty of them.

This is not to say that George Rivers doesn't have heart... he's already proved that he has in other fights and coming back from a knockout to lace 'em up again.

But the statement that "the mere act of lacing on the gloves, entering the ring and answering the bell dispels any question(s) about (a Fighter's) heart" is simply not accurate.

Fighters have different measures of heart,or will to win,or whatever you want to call it,
Some fighters get knocked down in a fight and never go on to have another fight. Some fighters lose any confidence that they might have had if they get stopped in a fight. The real measure of a man in the sport of Professional boxing
is what he does after he gets knocked down in a fight or gets stopped in a fight. We know that George has been stopped twice but what is he going to do now that he has been stopped on national Television.
George Rivera definatley has the skills to move on in boxing but the jury really is out on what he
will acomplish in the sport now.
