Results From Fredericksburg!

Caroline, VA cruiserweight Adam "The Real Deal" Seal stopped Derek "D-Mos" Amos of Dumfries, VA in the fourth round of the main event in front of a partisan crowd at the Fredericksburg Fairgrounds in Fredericksburg, VA. The card was the maiden promotion for Counter Punch Promotions.

Seal was on the offensive throughout the contest, almost dropping Amos early. Amos was able to survive but by the second round, Amos's balance betrayed him. Amos lost a point in the third round for spitting out his mouthpiece to stop a Seal onslaught. In the fourth, Seal put Amos away with a flurry of punches that forced referee Joe Cooper to stop the bout at 41 seconds of the round.

Seal's record is 5-1, four KO's. Amos's record falls to 11-26, nine KO's.

In a battle of veteran journeymen, the co-feature saw Marcus Brashers of Wichita, TX win a six-round unanimous decision over Edward "Nucky" Anderson of Richmond, VA. Brashers dropped Anderson in the first round with a left hand, but the always-tough, 47-year-old Anderson came back and took everything Brashers could dish out and even returned the favor at times. Brashers, was the busier boxer and captured the decision. Judge Gail Carpenter scored the bout 60-53. Judge Bill Osterman saw it 59-55 while Judge Jerry Payne scored it much closer at 57-56.

Brashers's record rises to 5-9-1, two KO's. Anderson drops to 4-12, three KO's.

In other bouts on the card, the six-bout winning streak of Alexandria, VA's Jaime "The Punisher" Palma was stopped by Canada's Sebastian Hamel as Hamel won a four-round unanimous decision. Hamel knocked down Palma with a right hand late in the first round. Hamel is now 7-13-1, one KO while Palma falls to 13-11-1, three KO's.

Oxon Hill, MD's Alexander "The Great" Johnson remained undefeated with a solid four-round unanimous decision over the debuting Francois Ambang of Richmond, by way of Cameroon. Johnson's solid jab was a major key in this victory. Johnson is now 5-0, three KO's.

Light heavyweight Scott "Cujo" Sigmon of Bedford, VA made his pro debut a successful one with a fourth-round TKO over Abdul Gilliard of Richmond, who loses for the first time as a pro and he is now 2-1, one KO.

Welterweight Dwayne "Diesel" Shelton of Richmond won his pro debut, capturing a four-round split decision over DC's Arick Washington.

The start of the card was delayed about an hour because the originally-contacted EMT service could not come to the card. Another service was used.

Here is the BATB Post-Fight Wrap-Up with myself and Joe Hensley:

Gabcast! Boxing Along the Beltway #108 - Post-Fight From Fredericksburg!

Not even a one-hour delay could stop the Counter Punch Promotions card from being a good one. Major League Boxing.com's Joe Hensley and I discuss it.

That's a rotten thing to say. Jaime is a great guy and that fight meant a lot to him. Go find something better to do than kicking someone when they are down.

You sound like a jilted jealous promoter. Show some class.

It was a great show, I was there. A little late in starting but I'm glad I stayed. When is the next one?

It really was a great first show. Rough trying to get to Fredericksburg on a Friday, but definitely worth it. Very solid for a first show. Promoter very professional and just downright nice. Great fans in support of boxers especially Adam Seal and Jaime Palma...It kind of had the feel of the Fisherville fights last year. Even the thoughtful touch to have a truck in that provided very good food and drink to sustain the crowd.

Congrats Counter Punch Promotions. Job well done. Looking forward to your next fight.

This just proves once again that you can't always judge a book by it's cover.
Jaime obviously fought a good fighter with a not so good record.
A fighter like this guy could beat alot of people he's not supposed to beat. He's probobly along the lines of a Damon Antoine or
Jason Jordan and they both have had their share of upsets against good fighters. This is not a setback
just a little bump in the road Jaime.
Best of Luck Punisher.

Tough loss for Jaime. I don't think that he fought "his fight" because of the 4 round distance. That said, Hamel looked MUCH bigger than him. I wonder if anyone else observed that. Great night of fights. A great example of how the VA promoters/managers/fighters all come out ahead if they stick together. If I take one thing away from that night, it is the development of the fighters from Central VA. The fighters from Richmond & Staunton were tough as hell & much more skilled than I've seen in the past. Another example of how by having different promoters & plenty of local shows, our local guys will have time to develop their skills & be more than cannonfodder for people outside of our area.

Great show & congrats Kimodi,

very very poor management for the fighters from Virginia.
You don't have to be a rocket scientist to figure out that these gus were to much for Jaime and Nucky. I bet after these two performances that Nucky anderson would kick the shit out of the punisher now. He always had to fight him when he wasn't in shape.
My hat goes off to Nucky for his effort in this fight.

Sounds like the last 2 comments actually came out of VA.

Mr. Young Amarillo would and could kick a lot out of what you mentioned and what you didn't mention.

Big talker are you going to put that on the line? think you can take him on with yours? You are quick to jump on a pup when it's down, but you sure do protect yours.

You are smart to hop on Mr. Anderson's wagon, because he is absolutely amazing and the BATB should be so proud of him. He is an unsung hero.
