I had a long talk with Tryan Bynum before he left. I spoke to him and his coach. I felt he was too young and should wait until next year, but they never paid any attention to me or JJ. I think Tyram Bynum will be a decent boxer one day, but he needs more experiance. Keely Thompson can make this kid a complete boxing package before the 2012 Olympics. Mark My Words!!!

Marquis Moore has a tough fight tonight again Dan O'Connor who is in a recent issue of Sports Illustrated - it will be a great win. Good luck Marquis!!

Paul Koons is a boxer that Nick "lost" to in the USA Regionals and he won his firt bout at the GGs too. Hopefully, Nick will get another crack at him.

Also keep in mind that a lot of our boxers are first year Open Class fighters. At the GG's that means they are facing boxers as old as 34 years old. Gary Russell WON the tournament his first year at 17!!! Only Hylon Williams won it at a younger age. Good luck Nick!!!

Good luck to all the DC area boxers!!

Daniel O'Connor(141lbs.), New England, dec. Marquis Moore, Washington, 4-1. O'Connor is a good boxer. He may end up winning everything. Good job getting that far, Marquis. Back to work. Good luck!

Noel Esqueda (152lbs), Kansas-Oklahoma, dec. Jeremiah Wiggins , Washington, 3-2.

Omar Pena(132lbs), New England, dec. Cordaro Simpkins, Washington, 5-0.

Jarreet Hurd (165lbs) (Hillcrest), Washington, dec. Celso Campoverde, California, 3-2.

Nicholas Kisner (201lbs.), Washington, dec. Robert Jekabsons, Chicago, 5-0.

Nick Kisner - remember the name!

why should we remember his name. Why would i want to remember a fighter who constantly stinks out the joint. He is a pretty good boxer but very boring.

I knew that comment would get a rise out of someone, but Nick Kisner is a very good boxer. Notice, I said boxer, not brawler, not fighter, not banger.

Some people call his style "running" but I call it "winning". He proved that to me when he fought Paul Koon in the USA Regionals. There are not a lot of heavyweights that can move as well as Nick. He is a very good young prospect (this is his first year as an Open fighter at the national level) and by making it as far as he has already (Quarterfinals of National Golden Gloves) - he's proven a lot to me. At 17 years old, he's shown that he is very close to being one of the best at his weight class and he has so much time left to hone his boxing skills.

If being boring meant that you would only 'lose' one or two fights for every 30 like Nick has done (I don't have exact numbers, but it's pretty close) in his last 30 bouts - I would rather my boxer be "boring" and keep winning. Judges must see something they like. I'm just throwin my two cents in.

Did i once say his style wasnt effective. i stated he was a pretty good boxer but boring. Of course winning is most important but dont tell people they should remember him when he will just put them to sleep. Does he have a chance to become better and perhaps more entertaining down the line, of course. But right now id rather watch paint dry. And im talking from a fans point of view not a coach's.

You say that you never said he was [ineffective], so that means he's effective.

You say I shouldn't tell people to remember Nick (an effective boxer your own admissions) - so the only conclusion that I can draw is that I should tell everybody:

Only remember ineffective boxers. The ones who like to get beat in the head and throw shots back and show that they are tough. Gotcha.

P.S. I am not a lawyer in case you are wondering. I'm just bored and having fun.

I know that this is a pro blog, but I hope that people understand that we really have some great boxers in the DC area.
