Dickinson was also named the Outstanding Boxer for the 10/11 year old division.

Congratulations!!! Great job fellas. I'm proud of all of you. This is one heck of an accomplishment. Just a note that this is Tank's 2nd National Title, but I'm sure others will be joining the list.
Please support DC amateur boxing. We have one of the strongest youth boxing programs in the US and this just supports that statement.

Larwence Sing lost 1st. fight
Kareem Martin was stopped first fight.

Tez Foxx lost very first bout.
Rock Warden lost in Championship bout. Now these guys have been boxing for years. You know its tough out there in Kansas City.

i seen the tape of kareem martin, he was not stopped, pics galore has the infon wrong. now kareen did lose 5-0 and after seeing tape-i understand why. kareem martin needs to spar with kids his own age. i hear devon matos who is number 1 in his weight class has really been roughing up kareem in the gym. that may have caused kareem martin not to have confidence in himself. kareem martin will be back next year, you can bet on that. he is still ranked number 8 in the silver gloves and that means alot. rember number 8 in all 50 states says alot. Devon Matos is still number 1 because he won last year year and he did not box this year. He will remain number 1 for two years under USA rules. Kareem Martin is actually lucky because he has the best in the country to spar with in Devon Matos.
That's Bull@#$%, I watched them spar before and Devon does not take advantage of Kareem. Devon knows he is much better than Kareem and takes it easy on him more than you know. Kareem looked much better when he was at Sugar Ray's and he was unbeatable back then, but trust me, Kareem will be back in both ways. He will be back with Sugar Rays and he will be back as a Silver Gloves Champion.

most of the boxers left headbangers and went to nomis and are doing much better now. they want to go back to Ray's but dont know how to ask
You have some of it wrong. Yes most boxers left Headbangers and went Nomis, but those boxers never trained at Ray's. The ones who trained at Ray's are too emmbarrassed to return. Trust me-they want to though! Give it some time. Everyone wants to be part of the number one gym. The facility is bigger, they hold fights there, they have the best coaches available and they are winning big everywhere they go

Kareem Martin is in 12/13 112lbs. Marcus G is 15 at 119lbs. That's a pretty big gag, fellas. Considering that, Kareem did well in sparring. I was there too along with the other gyms.
Twin, I don't know what rule your are referring to, but from what I know, the Silver Gloves has been used to determine ranking for juniors - but that is only until the following year's tourney. #1 only lasts for one year not two. If it did, we would have 3 boxers (2007, 2008 and 2009) ranked #1 in a division at the same time. That doesn't make sense, does it? Holy Cow!!! I love Boxing along the beltway.
Yall are crazy!! Seriously though, DC gyms work together more than other gyms in any city in the country and it shows when we go out of town. All the gyms get together for sparring regularly and when we go out of town - DC is well represented. Other cities may have more boxers, but they don't "know" each other and it shows in the interaction between the boxers.
I think this crop of 10-17 year olds we have may be one of the strongest crops of boxers we've had around here for a while (but I haven't been around for long so I'm just guessing).

Wade is from round 1's 6th gym and Tony Magruder is from Prime Time.

I agree with Pimpin. We get a lot of good comments but unfortunately a lot of ignorance too! You gotta take that for what it is and just ignore that crap here. The more attention you pay to the haters the more they hate. You can't stop them from posting BS. It's a little sad to me - but the reality is you never know who is posting what or who they are really representing or in most cases MISREPRESENTING. Let's keep that in mind everyboday. A lot of people would love to see the area gyms divided because working together has u ALL punishing the competition. YOU CANT BELIEVE EVERY POST YOU READ.i
Headbangers may very well be a decent boxing gym, but right now Sugar Ray's is on top of everyone by far. They are winning everything, they have the best coaches available, they do not allow any horseplaying whatsoever.
All sparring is supervised, everyone has a USA boxing book. They just took more guys to the Silver gloves than any other gym, they just had an entire team beat a team from Ireland, in fact, they pitched a shut out against Ireland.
The kids there do not have to dish out $100.00 per month just to box.
Kids that left there are now begging to come back. Dumb ass parents talked them into leaving.
Now the kids that left are losing in the silvers, and are forced to watch Sugar Rays win it all.
Sugar Rays boxers are on youtube and they deserve to be. They are not traitors like some I know.
They are what a team is supposed to look like. Those kids are well behaved, yet turn into a pure animal once inside the boxing ring.
When others hear that you are from Sugar Ray's, they imdeiatley get scared. Face it, right now Ray's gym is hitting on all cylinders and I give most credit to the hard work the coaches put in on a daily basis. Those coaches are there everyday helping those young men.
Coaches there are for the kids, they are not there just to be seen in the corner or on television.
They could careless about such childish behavior, they just want to treat the kids right and be the best they can be. My hats off to Sugar Ray's. All of you there are doing a great job, keep up the good work. Palmer Park is back!!!

I can assure everyone here with 100% certainty that the over-the-top posts about SRL are NOT from ANY coaches or staff!!! Anyone can come on this blog and post anything as if they are representing a gym or any person. That can be good or bad. Right now, we're seeing more of the downside.
I know that these posts are coming from someone not even in the SRL gym because the facts are always wrong. FACT: SRL did not post a shutout over Ireland. FACT: SRL did NOT have the MOST kids at the Silver Gloves.FACT: SRL youtube page features SRL, Headbangers, Benning Park, Upton, Dream Team, Nomis and other area boxers - as well as other nationally-ranked boxers from various tournaments.
Again, stop trying to stir up trouble. It won't work . . .all the coaches from area gyms COMMUNICATE with each other and don't go off what they read on the internet.

Coaches do talk to one another and fully know what you are trying to do. You place prank calls when we are out of town, you make 34 copies of DVD's and give them out just to make another boxer look bad. You are hatin on everyone, even the ones that are close to you.
