Time to pack us in Tinkay. Good guy, good amateur career, disappointing pro career (aside from the Oba Carr win), all around popular guy. Too many people love you man. Nobody wants to see you hurt man. You have too many friends and family that care about you man.

I first like to thank Joe Hensley and Jimmy Lange for having Willis Lockett at your show tonight. What a knock out! Everyone there had their mouth wide open as punch delievered to Calvin's chin .Both guys are worriors, trading bombs at one another.Willis told me he was dazed from Calvin's left hook in the 2nd round. I believe that was the first time he ever was hurt in a boxing match. Calvin, you have nothing to be shamed of, you put on a great fight tonight.Keep you head up high. Han Kim-

Hats off to Edward Enderson.
He proved that he is much much better than his record indicates.
Good game plan Freddy, I don't think those were knockdowns and I beleive the score should have been much closer than it was.

Scott Iknow you have been in the game long enough to know what is considered a knowdown. If you get hit with any type punch and your gloves touch the canvas then it's a knockdown. It has nothing to do with the force of the blow. For once enjoy the fights instead of talking about the officals.

Anonymous said...

Glad we cleared up what a knowdown is.

I STARTED TO KNOCK HIS ASS OUT B4 THE FIGHT BUT THAT NO NAME 4-3 KNOCKED HIS SOFT ASS OUT. RETIRE BOY I TOLD U WHAT WILL HAPPEN WORKING WITH THEM SOFT ASS ROOKIE FIGHTERS @ KEYSTONE

Great show, great fights, great night of entertainment!

Observations -
Luther Smith is done! He had a couple of moments but that was about it. This should be the last fight of his career. Jesse Williams did what he had to do, was in shape, and took care of business.

George Rivera is a nice prospect. He's a nice blend of size, speed, and power. John Terry, the guy he fought, is a physically imposing guy and hung tough during the fight.

If Willis Lockett fought Calvin Riley in 7 more fights, Calvin Riley, who now has just 3 pro fights (two of which are against Lockett) will knock him out. Willis is strong and awkward, but I came away being more impressed by Riley.

Bayan Jargal is strong but very one dimensional. Edward Anderson showed heart and a will to win, but just couldn't beat the younger, stronger Jargal. I think a slick boxer will pick Jargal apart. But if Jargal catches you, now then that's another story. Anderson, to his credit, took some very big right hands and finished the fight on his feet.

Charles Norwood just has a knack for hitting guys and knocking them down. He's still learning, he's green, and he's awkward, but he's got sleepy dust in his gloves. Ron Reeves hung tough and has talent and had a good performance in a losing effort.

"WAR TIME RIVERA" HE'S THE MAN...SPEED, POWER AND CLASS. THE FAMILIA IS THERE ALL THE WAY BY HIS SIDE...YOU GUYS KEEP DOING WHAT YOU ARE DOING...GREAT FIGHT AND TURN OUT!

Anonymous said...

What time it is "WAR TIME". George Rivera, gave good body shots to John Terry. Rivera is a great upcoming boxer. I look forward in seeing more of him and "LA FAMILIA". WAR TIME has his army with him where ever he goes. They bring him great support and excitement to all his fights.

All I have to say is BRING RIVERA TO CHARLOTTESVILLE VA...WE WANT OUR MAN IN OUR HOME TOWN...THAT'S WHERE THE MONEY IS..NOT ONLY WILL YOU HAVE LA FAMILY BUT ALL HIS FANS OF FRIENDS AND HIS COMMUNITY OF SUPPORTERS!!! GOOD FIGHT GEORGE!! YEA BABY IT'S WAR TIME!!

Good effort by Jimmy and his team.

Yeah, Jargal is good, but I'll agree with a previous post, those were not knockdowns. He hit Anderson flush and never really hurt him. Todd "White Lightning" Wilson will pick him apart and beat him with ease.

Anonymous said...

First of all hats off to Jimmy Lange and crew you did an outstanding job. The place was very classy, fights were good as well as the food. I hope Luther makes this his last fight and go out healthy, that kid Jargnal is the real deal and everyone around the Beltway needs to realize that he is very talented fighter and he is going a long way,he is the kind of fighter that we as fans should get behind because he makes great fights and he is local.

Anonymous said...

Actually, I disagree with you. Jargal is good, but he's not all that. A slick boxer will beat him easy, and I mean easy.

Anonymous said...

yes, easy! anyone who can throw jabs will beat him easy.

Anonymous said...

Jargal is the one to watch. He's a little rough around the edges right now but he's quick. Very quick.

That dude is the real deal. He's gonna blow up.

Anonymous said...

Well if they were not knockdowns what were they? I saw the gloves touch the canvas.

Anonymous said...

I'm talking legit knockdowns like when one guy hits another guy on the chin, buckles his knees, and drops him. Charles Norwood scored knockdowns in his fight with Ron Reaves. Heck, Reaves almost fell through the ropes once. Jargal's "knockdowns" of Anderson, weren't really knockdowns. Movement and jabs will give Jagal fits. Anderson gave him quite a bit of trouble in that fight, although Jargal deservedly got the decision.

Anonymous said...

I feel bad saying this but Willie is going to get Bayan beat and it will happen soon. If he is managing him, he'll put him in over his head way too early in his career.

Anonymous said...

I agree, Bayan is very talented. However, Willie will get him beat and I'm not even sure that he's a good trainer.

Anonymous said...

After reading the last comment I must say something.
So you think willie is not a good trainer.
My friend you wouldn't know a good trainer if one fell out of a tree and landed on you.
Willie is not being really selective about opponents because
Jargal has had hundreds of amateur
fights and plenty of pro kickboxing fights.
Byan is going to fight a slick boxer in Reggie Holly at fight night. So we will see won't we

Anonymous said...

For the person talking of legit knockdowns you need to learn therules of boxing and stop doing this armchair judging. If any part of you body/gloves touches the canvas except for the soles of your feet or the ropes keep you from falling it is a knockdown period.

Anonymous said...

I know what the rules are and I'm not questioning the decision. I'm just saying that Jargal didn't hurt Anderson and cause the knockdowns. They were trips/slips not legit knockdowns that dropped the guy to the canvas.

Anonymous said...

I appreciate your disagreeing without getting nasty or petty. Now let me continue. Willie, who I like by the way, has never and will never train or manage a successful PRO fighter. First of all, he is NOT a good trainer. He only teaches one style, Come forward throwing punches. His management skills are piss poor as well. Look at what he's done to his only two noteworthy fighters, Jose Almanzar and Orazio Robinson. They were two guys with decent talent who took on (b/c of Willie) all comers and their careers went nowhere. Bayan, shame to say, will wind up the same way. There is no sense in fighting a Reggie Holly at this stage, none whatsoever. Without giving too much away, I KNOW my local boxing, believe me. It sounds like, in all honesty, you're just protecting someone you know and like. YOU don't have a clue. Check yo-self before you wriggity wreck yo-self.

Anonymous said...

Reggie Holly doesn't have the chin of Edward "Nuckie" Anderson. Jargal is going to knock him the "F" out!

Anonymous said...

wow where is the hate coming from i knew willie for a while less start first with jose, jose was 6-1-1 before he left willie and went to alexandria bc then he went 1-5-1 cait but that on willie orazio got stop by someone that lost 5 fights in a row plus he was manage by his father so check in to it before you try to but someone name in the trash

willie Taylor has alot of people who like and respect him as a trainer and I think the person who is puting out the negative comments, although they have a right to their opinion,is fighting a losing battle.
Not only has Willie had multiple
national champions from his gym he
trains thirty or forty young people every evening at his gym.

I have personally seen willie
exhibit stern advice to his fighter
during a fight and then I've seen him show compassion many many times
to both his fighter and the fighter in the other corner in the amateures.
On the professional level willie's fighters Have good winning records.
I don't think it's fair for anyone
to say he screwed up their boxing careers when they were and still are winning fighters.
When you judge someone and say that their not a good trainer
you should know what the heck your talking about.

Anonymous said...

I think Willie Taylor is a good trainer, a good guy, and good to do business with.

Linda "Great Shot" Siadys said...

"When you judge someone and say that their not a good trainer

Or at the very least just sign our damn names. How many comments would even be here if we stood behind our words with our identity? Okay to posture here outside the ring and say this-n-that. Like waiting until nightfall to throw rocks under the cover of darkness. Sigh.

Anonymous said...

Look, for those of us with opinions... especially Linda, whom I like and respect, please at least know the game of boxing. First off, I know, respect, and like Willie. However, he is a great AMATEUR trainer, not an even average PROFESSIONAL trainer or even less PROFESSIONAL manager. FACE THE FACTS! WHY on earth would he throw his fighters in, the way he does, if he knew what he was doing? This is not a god damn poularity contest. Who makes moves with his fighters and who doesn't? I'll give another example: Dan Campbell... great amateur coach, horendous professional trainer and manager. Point made.

Anonymous said...

Look, this particular blogger is an avid fan of DC/MD/VA boxing, believe me. I'm not signing my name because I don't want to make enemies. I'm just making a point. Bayan will get thrown in above his head and get beat with with Willie at the helm, believe that. Hell, I hope they prove me wrong, but they won't. Trust me.

Anonymous said...

"This is not a popularity contest."

That could be said about the whole sport.

Anonymous said...

I think you need to check the record of Willies fighters before you start with your negative oppions.
Also jargal has had a number of professional fights and a world of
amateure fights.
How long do you protect a guy with that much experience?

Anonymous said...

True, but you protect anyone until their record is such that they can demand good money for taking risks. Don't kid yourself, Reggie Holly is a risk. If Bayan loses, you have a 3-1 fighter who doesn't even speak English. He needs to be moved correctly.

Anonymous said...

You both make good points. The kid CAN fight though, that much is clear.

Anonymous said...

A record of 3-1 who doesn't speak
english ,boy I've heard every angle
now.
Your right Reggie holly is a risk
for byan as is byan for Reggie.
I think it's a good fight.

Anonymous said...

Bayan will whip Reggie Holly and he'll stop him. Willie knows what he's doing.

Anonymous said...

First...thank you for the attention. You act like I had a bunch of pro fighters. I only had two, Jose & Orizio. Now I have Tracy, Brewer, & Jagal. I would like to thank Scott Farmer, Jimmy Lange, Joe Hensley, & Han Kim for promoting and putting on shows in VA. A while back, there weren't many shows in Va, hence we did not have very many choices. Today's fighters in VA need to thank God for the oppurtunity for managers and boxers to be more selective. Back in my day if my manager at the time, Jim Jones, if he didnt put on shows... I had to fight whoever I could get.
You act like I had a bunch of pro fighters, which I have not. I am just like any other pro coach/manager in the learning process. Now that we have more people in VA doing shows, we wil have more exposure.
Someone made a comment that I only teach my guys to come forward and throw punches. If you ever seen Orizio box at his best, I don't think you would have made that comment. I am here to stay & I will do my best. I will have some people like what I do and some people that wont like what I do. I am going to keep doing what I do with the grace of God.
Willie Taylor

Anonymous said...

With class and resolve like that, Willie Taylor CANNOT possibly be from the DC-VA-MD area!!!

Anonymous said...

anonymous said: True, but you protect anyone until their record is such that they can demand good money for taking risks.

Unless you win and defend a world title, there is no such thing as "good money" in boxing. It's piddlings all the way to top ten... then maybe a low five figure payday for a title challenge, or if you're lucky, a title eliminator in Europe. But it's still piddlings.

So this whole nonsense about money vs risks is absolute nonsense in this boxing business. You think the Marvin Hagler camp weighed the risks vs the financial rewards before venturing into Philly? Hell no!!! Only the risk vs the career rewards.

The only good money that comes in boxing is defending a world title. Or being a top 20 heavyweight.

Don't kid yourself, Reggie Holly is a risk. If Bayan loses, you have a 3-1 fighter who doesn't even speak English. He needs to be moved correctly.

Sh-i-i-i-i-t... if he can't beat Reggie Holly now, he has no business aspiring to be a world class fighter. Might as well find out sooner than later if Bayan can adapt. No use wasting time and money on a robot.

Anonymous said...

I respectfully disagree. The difference between a Reggie Holly now and a Reggie Holly 5 fights down the road is huge.

Anonymous said...

Well said Willie! I've always gotten along well with you! I have to stay anonymous, but keep doing what you're doing. By the way, Orazio Robinson was one heck of a fighter! He just couldn't take a shot and that's not the trainer's fault.

Boxbible - you're exactly right, it's no money until you get to the title. That's just the way it is. If Jargal is the real deal, he'll blow right through Holly. Well said.

Anonymous said...

Most of you nasayers have never been in a ring let alone thrown a punch, most of you arm chair critics don't know a left hook from a fish hook.Jargnal is the real deal he is already a 8 or 10 round fighter, he will destroy I said destroy Reggie Holly on fight night he is one of the most devastating punchers around,Nuckie Anderson is a professional survivor, he felt the power and fought on the defense after that. I think Willie Taylor is one of the good guys in Boxing and he deserves a chance to become a good trainer, the other two guys he had were good club fighters this kid is a GOOD fighter and the area needs to recognize it. I predict BIG things for this Fighter he could walk through Farmer, Palma and any other Jr. Welterweight in this area right now.Styles make fights believe me Holly better be in shape because the Mongollian Express will run him over when they meet fight night.....

Anonymous said...

Maybe I don't know a fish hook from a left hook... but one thing I do know... and that is Bayan barely threw a jab in his last fight.

If he doesn't use his jab against a Holly, he will surely NOT blow right through him.

He might labor to an eventual KO win but only because Holly has a heart the size of a peanut.

Even a "real deal" needs to use a jab.

Anonymous said...

very good comments made by Boxbible. Bayman needs to throw more jabs, using jabs to measure and set up your opponents. Also can be very good defensive weapon.
Yo Boxbible, I had been reading many comments made by you and want to ask you that were you ever a boxer/
You sure talk alike you had bunch of fights. If you are, can you take Mike'money'Sawyer/

I hereby challenge Boxbible, whomever he may be, to a PBJ sandwich-eating contest. All jokes aside, the guy knows his boxing. While he's a bit harsh, I agree with about 90% of his comments.

But I must respectfully decline the challenge. I've already signed for a hotdog eating contest with Nick Kisner...
