Buchanan, Attah In Action This Weekend!

As I mentioned in the most recent BATB Post-Fight Wrap-Up Show, Capitol Heights, MD super middleweight Henry "Sugar Poo" Buchanan returns to action on Saturday, October 20 at the Sycuan Casino Showcase Theatre in El Cajon, CA.

Buchanan (14-1, 11 KO's) will battle Moline, IL's Ted Muller (19-12-2, nine KO's) in a bout scheduled for 10 rounds.

According to one report, Buchanan recently moved to the west coast and is staying close to his nephew, San Diego Chargers linebacker Shawne Merriman. Merriman is scheduled to be in attendance on Saturday.

Meanwhile, former featherweight contender Daniel "The Prophet" Attah of DC will challenge Ricardo "Piolo" Castillo for the vacant WBC Caribbean super bantamweight title on Friday, October 19 in Cabazon, CA.

The Nigerian native Attah (24-4-1, eight KO's) has not fought since losing by ninth-round technical knockout to Mario Santiago on March 10 in Ponce, Puerto Rico.

Castillo (32-4, 22 KO's) is the younger brother of former two-division world champion Jose Luis Castillo and is coming off a loss by disqualification to Celestino Caballero for the WBA Super Bantamweight title on March 16 in Hollywood, FL.

Hope Sugar Poo getting away from local distractions helps him get his act together. The kid can fight.

Attah is a nice guy but man, is he boring. He's like a watered down 130 lb. version of Chris Byrd or Pernell Whitaker. I'd rather have a tooth pulled than watch him fight. It would be less painful!
