Peterson Stops Santos in Biloxi And Wins NABO Junior Welterweight Title!

Undefeated junior welterweight Lamont Peterson continued his winning ways with a punishing sixth-round technical knockout over Frankie Santos in front of a nationally televised ESPN2 audience in Biloxi, MS.

Peterson, who was recently named the Friday Night Fights "Prospect of the Year," showed why by dominating Santos from the outset. Santos refused to come off his school for the seventh round.

With the win, Peterson raised his record to 22-0, 10 KO's and captures the vacant NABO Junior Welterweight title. Santos falls to 15-4-3, seven KO's.

THIS JUST IN: In a recent interview with BoxingTalk.com's Brad Cooney, Peterson has his sights set on IBF Junior Welterweight champ Paulie Malignaggi. Peterson told Cooney he hopes to get a shot at Malignaggi early next year.

NABO Title?

Hey Gary, How close to reality is the fight with Nate Campbell that Anthony was talking about? That would be an awesome fight!

It would be a great fight, Linda! I think a lot depends on what happens in the WBO with Michael Katsidis (the interim WBO Lightweight champ) and Juan Diaz (the actual WBO Lightweight champ).

Katsidis is awaiting the winner of the matchup between Juan and Julio Diaz later this month. The winner has 120 days to face Katsidis. If not, then Katsidis becomes the actual WBO champ.

Anthony is the number one contender in the WBO. The question would be: Does Anthony risk that ranking against a quality opponent in Campbell?

It's a great bout, but it is a dangerous fight, really, for both of them! Anthony is young enough to take a chance and, if he loses, can bounce back. I'm not sure if Campbell can afford another key loss.

I sure would like to see the bout though!
