Holmes, Rahman Return to Action!

Two former world champions from the Beltway return to action in bouts over the next two months.

Former two-time WBC Middleweight champion Keith Holmes will take on Tito Mendoza in a light heavyweight bout on Thursday, August 16 in Panama City, Panama as part of the World Boxing Association's "KO Drugs" Festival.

Holmes (40-4, 25 KO's) has not fought since winning a 10-round unanimous decision over Baltimore's Cory Cummings last October 7 in Chicago, IL.

Mendoza (35-7, 28 KO's) is a native of Panama and a former NABO Super Middleweight champ. In his last bout, Mendoza scored a 10th round TKO over Sean Corbin on April 25 in Panama City.

On September 7, former two-time world heavyweight champion Hasim "The Rock" Rahman will headline a card at the Soaring Eagle Casino in Mount Pleasant, MI. No word yet on who Rahman's opponent will be. Rahman (42-6-2, 33 KO's) is coming off a rather ugly 10-round unanimous decision over Taurus Sykes on June 14 in Rochester, NY.

Digital-If boxrec is any indication, 2 others will also be fighting: Joppy and Sharmba (http://www.boxrec.com/show_display.php?show_id=527858)

Also, Sharmba's profile led me to Paul Williams's. 33-0? And only 25? Damn!

Yea, they will all be fighting, or should I say, that they all should be fighting on the senior tour.

The Roch is but a pebble

I don't know about Joppy's bout but I see August 24 is an open date.

As far as Sharmba, I've been talking to his management and they say the rumors of him fighting Luis Collazo on the Fernando Vargas-Ricardo Mayorga card in September are not true.

Damn, that sucks because there are already 4/1 odds online at fivedimes.com for Sharmba to lose against Luis Collazo (I still took Collazo). Looks like I need to get my $ back!

Hey Gary, so nothing was ever signed? BTW, I love Sharmba but the fire is gone.

Sharmba is a great guy and was a great fighter, but PLEASE advocate whenever possible for his retirement before it's too late.
