Turner Advances to Golden Glove Finals!

DC super heavyweight Tyler Turner is the only Beltway Boxer to advance to the finals of the National Golden Gloves in Chattanooga, TN.

Turner advanced to the finals by defeating the 2006 National Champion Jonte Willis. Turner stopped Willis at 1:06 of the fourth round (all medal round bouts are four two-minute rounds).

Turner will now face 2005 Golden Gloves runner-up Nathaniel James of Malden, Mass in tonight's final. James defeated Turner earlier in the competition by a 5-0 decision. A victory means that Turner would advance to the 2007 US Championships, the only Olympic Trials qualifier.

Oxon Hill light heavyweight Alexander Johnson lost in his semifinal contest to Siju Shabazz of Las Cruces, NM, 5-0.

I am not sure who told you that they are now four rounds of three minutes each, but I think you and whoever said that is wrong. I think the rounds are still two minute rounds.

You are right. USABoxing.org had it written incorrectly. Both sites have made the change.
