It was one heck of a night of boxing, Johnson was a draw.. Hell of match there to, Jimmy Lange vs Fontaine Cabell. Great match, there should be a pretty good write up on tonights fights. All good fights..

Great fights! I was really disappointed in the crowd, it was by far the smallest one yet. That's a darn shame because the card was outstanding! If you're a boxing fan and you live within a 2 hour's drive of the Patriot Center, and you didn't go - WHY NOT? Ticket prices were as low as $25! You missed a night of GREAT fights!
ACW, you were mostly right.
I think Jargal got Gierke out of there in the 2nd. I heard Gierke after the fight say that he had never been hit so hard in his life!
Tracy Brewer won a decision but almost didn't make it out of the first round against Tim Scache.
Damon Antoine was all over Mike Carrigan. That tells you about records in boxing, they don't mean much! Antoine was 3 and 8 going in and Carrigan was 3-0, 3KO's. I think it was a 2nd round stoppage by Antoine.
Lenny DeVictoria had his hands full with Jason Jordan. I actually thought Jordan won the fight.
James Johnson vs. William Guthrie was a draw. Johnson should have won and would have rightfully gotten the decision if the ref didn't penalize Johnson for some infraction (wrongfully so in my opinion). The point Johnson lost was the difference in the fight and that's why the fight was scored a draw. Without that point deduction, Johnson wins! This makes Juan Robles decision effort against Johnson two weeks ago that much more impressive. Robles beat Johnson with ease and Johsnon almost beats former world champ Guthrie!
Damian Fuller stopped Dean White in the 3rd I believe. Bad style match up for the Pit Bull. He never was in the fight and the long rangy Fuller fought the right fight against White. I think Dean should call it a career. He's had a good run, get out while you can.
Say what you will about Jimmy Lange, some say he can't fight a lick, some say he'll be world champ. You can't doubt his heart and conditioning. He was taking some hellacious shots against Cabell and appeared to be on his way to losing by KO but he kept his composure, kept working Cabell's body, and lowered the boom on him. I think he dropped Cabell in the 8th and finished the fight in the 9th. I may be wrong. Either way, it was a great and exciting fight and an entertaining night of fights for boxing fans. If you missed it, that's your fault.
This was probably one of the best nights of Boxing in this area or any area in a long time .I really enjoyed myself at the show ,I saw some amazing fights . Its true you can't look at a record ,I don't know were they found these guys ,but they all came to fight when is the next show...

Johnson had a point a point taken away for holding Guthrie's head down while hitting him.
Speaking of point deductions, did anybody see the holding foul that cost Cabell a point in the sixth round? From where I was sitting (on the floor, about 50' from the ring) the holding foul didn't appear flagrant, certainly not enough to warrant a full point deduction.
Part of it might have been that Fontaine had already been warned for head butting. Perhaps it's like soccer, where a ref will sometimes pull a yellow or even red card based on cumulative behavior, even if the foul that draws the sanction isn't flagrant.
Regardless of why the point deduction was assessed, I think it invigorated Jimmy. I had him down four rounds to one at the end of the fifth (although the second round, which I gave to Cabell, could have gone either way.) But then the foul in the sixth and especially the knockdown in the seventh gave Jimmy a pair of 10-8 rounds and put him back in control.
Cabell was warned about holding Lange's head down but it was the holding and hitting that got the point taken away. He knew what he was doing. The ref had to take control of the fight or else it would have become dirty.
