'Awesome April' Precedes 'Magnificent May'!

If anyone can tell me when Beltway Boxing has been THIS busy, I want to hear it!

Time to -- as someone told me today -- update the update! Before we even get into the cards taking place during the "Magnificent May Along The Beltway," we have to talk about the "Awesome April Across the Area!" There are two shows in the area and a third where a number Beltway Boxers will be featured.

We know already about the Ballroom Boxing show on Thursday, April 19 at Michael's Eighth Avenue in Glen Burnie, MD. We also know about the Major League Boxing "Rising Stars" show on Saturday, April 28 at the Augusta Expoland in Fisherville, VA. That show features undefeated cruiserweight Juan Carlos Robles as well as veteran Derek "D-Mos" Amos.

Now comes word of a boxing card coming to the DC Armory on Friday, April 27. This is a separate card from the one we have been talking about for May 25 (memo to "Jake": We were BOTH right!) Scheduled to appear on this card will be former three-time WBA Middleweight champion William Joppy! I have been told that this will also be an ESPN2 card!

Speaking of the May 25 card, I've heard that the DC Armory is not a location etched in stone for this show. It may end up elsewhere in the city. The other information is locked in, however.

And you have to add yet ANOTHER card for May. Ballroom Boxing will make a quick return after the April 19 card with another show on Thursday, May 31.

That brings the total to eight boxing cards in a little more than six weeks! Two will be in DC, two in Virginia and four in Maryland!! Folks, this is just unbelievable! This is truly our time!!

Gary- Lets have some sort of contest that includes all the promotions. We need some way for fans to sign in at each bout. Then after all the shows we will tally who went to the most (professionals in the sport are not allowed to participate). Assuming that hopefully there will be more than one, we could have a drawing and the winner would get a pair of free ringside tickets that each promoter would donate to their next show. With eight fights and seven promoters, the prize would be ringside tickets to seven fights. Or maybe we make Scott give twice! We could call this the BATB Superfan contest. What do you think?

I think Chris Middendorf's idea is a very good one. Let's have a Superfan contest and give back to those who give us so much! I realize that my Fishersville, VA show is technically outside of the Beltway, but there are a large number of Beltway area boxing fans that make the trip and we certainly do appreciate the support! Gary, I am sure that your blog plays a large part in the support I receive from the Beltway area and I would be remiss if I didn't thank you for the coverage! If the promoters of the area work together, it can do nothing but help boxing in the area. That can be nothing but a good thing for the sport, for the promoters, for the fighters, and for boxing fans in the entire region!

If you believe that more boxing is a problem and not something to be celebrated, then you are on the wrong site.

This is a time to be celebrated, anonymous. This has nothing to do with swelling egos.

Gary -
Just an introduction with the anticipation that we can add some value to the local Boxing scene.

The StreamerNet V*TICKET webcasting platform enables Boxing Promoters to generate more revenues by using the Internet to deliver boxing matches to a larger fan base.

It’s perfect for Live Events and for OnDemand Replays, too!

I welcome the opportunity to talk about the StreamerNet pay-per-view web environment. There are no upfront costs to the Promoters because the program is based on a revenue-sharing partnership.

Please let me know of your interest so that we can schedule a telephone conversation.
