Aiken ESPN2 Bout No Longer IBF Eliminator!

Bad news for former IBF Featherweight champion Eric "Mighty Mouse" Aiken. His ESPN2 bout tomorrow night in Salem, NH is no longer an IBF elimination bout. Fightnews.com is reporting that Aiken's original opponent, former IBF champion Valdemir Pereira, pulled out of the bout for undisclosed reasons. You'll remember that Aiken took the title from Pereira on May 13 in Boston by disqualification.

Aiken (16-5, 12 KO's) will still appear on ESPN2 tomorrow night as he faces veteran Cruz "Cucho" Carvajal (28-13-1, 13 KO's). Carvajal has been a contender at bantamweight and junior featherweight, but has never fought at featherweight. Carvajal has won his last three bouts, but hasn't fought since November of 2006. This will be Aiken's first bout since losing the IBF title to Robert Guerrero on September 2 in Los Angeles. Guerrero, by the way, is on his second reign as IBF champ.
